ASYNCHRONOUS MOTORS

ACCESSORIES AND SPECIAL DESIGNS

ACCESSORIES AND SPECIAL DESIGNS
Special motors
0.1 Flameproof motors: motors with explosion-proof containment enclosure (IEC 79).
0.2 Special fan motors.
0.3 Brake motors.
0.4 Servo-ventilated motors (for more details, see Servo-ventilation)
0.5 Special marine motors.
0.6 Motors with power values other than those mentioned in the catalogue.
Mechanical accessories and designs
1.1 Rain cover: a cover mounted on the back of the motor. It is recommended whenever motors are installed outdoors with the
control side facing downwards.
1.2 Textile shield: application similar to rain cover but especially designed for textile industries, where motors operate in environments
saturated with suspended textile particles.
1.3 Heavy-duty aluminum cooling fan (ex. high operating temperature).
1.4 Drainage holes: holes filled with plastic plugs which are especially placed to facilitate condensate drainage according to the
motor working position.
Special shafts.
1.5 1. Bialbero: rotor shaft extension from the ventilation side to obtain two control sides.
1.6 2. Customized or specially designed shafts.
1.7 Terminal board placed in a different position.
1.8 Painting in customized colors and quality.
1.9 Special degree of balancing: it means balancing the rotor with R or a higher degree.
1.10 Reduced operating noise level: by means of bearings and special devices.
1.11 Special IP degree: IP 56 or IP 65 degrees can be obtained by properly sealing various motor parts.
1.12 Increased axial and radial loads: by means of specially designed bearings.
Electrical accessories and designs
2.1 Special voltages.
2.2 Special polarities.
Double polarities.
2.3 1. Dahlander connection : motors with one single winding and speed ratio of 1 to 2 (ex.: 2/4 poles = 3000/
1500 rpm).
2.4 2. Connection with 2 separate windings: motors with two separate windings whatever the speed ratio (ex.: 4/6
poles = 1500/1000 rpm).
2.5 Special insulation value: we can supply H class motors thanks to the use of top-level insulation material.
2.6 Tropicalization: treatment allowing stator windings to withstand tropical climates.
2.7 Anti-condensation heaters: low-voltage resistors which are fed when motor is idle and while heating facilitate evaporation of the
condensate generated by considerable sudden rises/falls in temperature.
(CAUTION! These devices shall not be fed when motor is in operation.)
2.8 Encoder: a device used to detect the no. of motor revolutions.
Thermal protection (temperature-sensitive elements).
2.9 1. Klixon thermal protection: series connection of temperature-sensitive bimetallic devices. They open the circuit when the motor
temperature exceeds preset values. Silver contacts are used. The circuit is normally closed. Once protection has operated, the
winding temperature has to return to a normal safety limit to allow protection to automatically switch on again.
It is used to detect winding temperature continuously.
2.10 2. PTC thermal detectors: temperature-sensitive elements with resistance varying as a function of temperature.
For further information, please read the section Protection.
2.11 3. PT100 thermometric resistor: the resistance value varies in proportion to temperature (-50C to +260C). Resistance equals
to 100 at 0C; 2 conductors; installed as PTC resistor.
