Synopsis

1. INTRODUCTION
There is an old proverb which says Give a man a fish and he will have
something to eat for a day but teach a man how to fish and he will have
something to eat for the rest of his life, With reference to the modern
technology one can extend the definition and say that Teach a man how to use
the internet and he will not bother you for weeks.

The tremendous advances in technology and the aggressive infusion of


information technology had brought in a paradigm shift in banking operations.
Internet banking that has revolutionized the banking industry worldwide has
turned out to be the nucleus issue of various studies all over the world. However
there has constantly been a significant gap between bankers and customers with
regard to Internet banking in India. The purpose of this project is to help fill
significant gaps in knowledge about the Internet banking landscape in India.
The project presents data, drawn from a survey of opinions of Internet banking
users and their satisfaction level. It investigates the extent of usage, the profile
of customers and their response towards Internet banking using univariate
statistical analysis. By the end of first quarter, 2006, differences between
Internet and non-Internet bank users had begun to emerge in funding, in sources
of income and expenditures and in measures of performance. It was also found
that the there is a significant gap between the perceptions of the customers and
the service providers i.e. the Bankers.

2. Scope of the study


Individual behaviour of customer in SBM Bank. Group behaviour of customer
in SBM Bank. The organization covering the aspects of its formation, structure,
in SBM Bank. The motivation services to the customer and employees. To
understand the profile of the customers availing Internet banking facility.To
understand the Internet usage pattern and preferences of the customers with

regard to frequency, place and banks.To understand the attitude of the users
making banking transactions through the net. To understand the attitude of users
towards Internet banking contents.
3 STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM:
Though Bangalore has surpassed the silicon valley of USA in Software Exports
and technological innovations, the level of Internet users in the city is
substantially low. There seems to be a digital divide between the Computer
literates and the others. Though the citizens for checking mail, browsing,
chatting etc use Internet it is not used for banking transactions on a large scale.
The study is conducted to analyze the usage of Internet for banking purpose.
The study is conducted to highlight the reasons for customers preference to
Internet banking.

4 OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY:


To understand the profile of state bank of mysore.
To find the various factors which influence customers to avail internet
banking facility.
To study about the awareness levels of Internet banking services among
the sbm customers.
To measure the level of usage of internet banking.
To measure the satisfaction of customers of sbm with respect to internet banking
facilities.
5 LIMITATIONS OF THE STUDY:

1. The sample size was restricted to fourty customers

2. The customers interviewed represent only individuals and not corporate


so the B2B internet banking does not form a part of this research
3. Resources like time and cost was a constraint,
4. Some of the respondents were not willing to give all information
regarding their internet banking practice.
5. Study was confined to SBM Customers only

6 Research Methodology
Sources of data
Two types of data is collected in this study
1. Primary Data
2. Secondary Data
1. Primary Data
It involves collection of data from sources from which the researcher
directly collect data that have not been previously collected. In this study,
primary data are collected by the use of two types of methods:
Questionnaire
Direct Interviews
In this study questionnaires are used to collect the data from the
respondents, since where the questionnaires are not adequate, used personal
interview method for collecting data to draw the effective conclusion.
2. Secondary Data

These are the data collected from various sources, used in addition to the
primary data in the research. The various sources are the past records of the
bank, magazine, bank websites, annual reports etc,
Data Collection Instruments
The research instrument which is used in this study is
questionnaire.
Personal interview of Mr. Niraj srivastav an assistant manager was
conducted along with it.
Research has mainly one instrument for collecting the primary data, i.e.
questionnaire. Here the questionnaire has been made much easy to understand
and answer, and hence clearly it takes lesser time to respond.
Sample Unit
Sample method:-Quota sampling
In quota sampling the selection of the sample is made by the interviewer,
who has been given quotas to fulfill from specified sub-group of the population.
The sample population selected with in Bangalore city.
Sample Size
Total Sample size is 50.
