The HD 1080p infrared bullet from Bosch is a

professional surveillance camera that provides high
quality HD images for demanding security and
surveillance network requirements.
This robust bullet camera is a true day/night camera
offering excellent performance day or night.
System overview
iDNR reduces bandwidth and storage requirements
The camera uses intelligent Dynamic Noise Reduction
(iDNR) which actively analyzes the contents of a scene
and reduces noise artifacts accordingly.
The low-noise image and the efficient H.264
compression technology provide clear images while
reducing bandwidth and storage by up to 30%
compared to other H.264 cameras. This results in
reduced-bandwidth streams that still retain a high
image quality and smooth motion. The camera
provides the most usable image possible by cleverly
optimizing the detail-to-bandwidth ratio.
Area-based encoding is another feature which reduces
bandwidth. Compression parameters for up to eight
user-definable regions can be set. This allows
uninteresting regions to be highly compressed, leaving
more bandwidth for important parts of the scene.
The average typical optimized bandwidth in kbits/s for
various image rates is shown in the table:

Regions of interest and E-PTZ

Regions of Interest (ROI) can be user defined. The
remote E-PTZ (Electronic Pan, Tilt and Zoom) controls
allow you to select specific areas of the parent image.
These regions produce separate streams for remote
viewing and recording. These streams, together with
the main stream, allow the operator to separately
monitor the most interesting part of a scene while still
retaining situational awareness.
Two-way audio and audio alarm
Two-way audio allows the operator to communicate
with visitors or intruders via an external audio line
input and output. Audio detection can be used to
generate an alarm if needed.
Tamper and motion detection
A wide range of configuration options is available for
alarms signaling camera tampering. A built-in algorithm
for detecting movement in the video can also be used
for alarm signaling.
Cloud-based facilities
The camera supports time-based or alarm-based JPEG
posting to four different accounts. These accounts can
address FTP servers or cloud-based storage facilities
(for example, Dropbox). Video clips or JPEG images
can also be exported to these accounts.
Alarms can be set up to trigger an e-mail or SMS
notification so you are always aware of abnormal
events.
Easy installation
Power for the camera can be supplied via a Powerover-Ethernet (IEEE 802.3af) compliant network cable
connection. With this configuration, only a single cable
connection is required to view, power, and control the
camera. Using PoE makes installation easier and more
cost-effective, as cameras do not require a local power
source.
The camera can also be supplied with power from
+12 VDC power supplies. To increase system
reliability, the camera can be simultaneously
connected to both PoE and +12 VDC supplies.
Additionally, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) can
be used, which will allow continuous operation, even
during a power failure. For trouble free network
cabling, the cameras support Auto-MDIX.
True day/night switching
The camera incorporates mechanical filter technology
for vivid daytime color and exceptional night-time
imaging while maintaining sharp focus under all
lighting conditions.
Access Security
Password protection with three levels and 802.1x
authentication is supported. To secure Web browser
access, use HTTPS with a SSL certificate stored in the
camera. The video and audio communication channels
can be independently AES encrypted with 128-bit keys
by installing the optional encryption site license.

Surveillance software
There are many ways to access the cameras video
features: using a web browser, with the Bosch Video
Management System, with the Bosch Recording
System, with the supplied Bosch Video Client, or with
the video security mobile App.
The Bosch Video Client PC surveillance software offers
a user-friendly interface to support easy installation
and configuration, and is supplied completely free-ofcharge. It provides easy live viewing of multiple
cameras, playback, forensic search and export.

Content-based scene analysis optimizes the image

processing

Content-based Imaging Technology

Content-Based Image Technology (C-BIT) is used to
radically improve image quality in all lighting
conditions and to identify areas for enhanced
processing. The camera examines the scene using
intelligent video analytics and provides feedback to retune the image processing. This provides better detail
in the areas that matter and better all-round
performance.
Low bandwidth consumption
The intelligent Dynamic Noise Reduction (iDNR)
actively analyzes the contents of the scene to reduce
bandwidth and storage requirements. This removes
noise artifacts so effectively that compression
efficiency is very high (up to 30% improvement). This
results in reduced-bandwidth streams that still retain a
high image quality and smooth motion. The camera
provides the most usable image possible by cleverly
optimizing the detail-to-bandwidth ratio via temporal
and spatial noise filtering.
Area-based encoding reduces unnecessary bandwidth.
Compression parameters for up to eight user-definable
regions can be set. This allows uninteresting regions
to be highly compressed, thus lowering bandwidth
consumption and storage requirements. Important

regions can be tuned for best image quality, thus

allowing the user to allocate bandwidth to important
parts of the scene.

recording bandwidth on the network, or if microSD

card recording is used extends the effective life of
the storage medium.

Flexible lens choice

The camera comes with a choice of tele, mid-range,
and ultra wide angle lenses. These varifocal SR (Super
Resolution) lenses have an advanced iris design to
ensure that the high resolution HD sensor produces
the sharpest image possible, even in the corners. The
optically corrected ultra wide angle lens provides
outstanding performance without the need for dewarping software.

Video Analytics
With built-in video content analysis, the camera
reinforces the Intelligence-at-the-Edge concept where
edge devices become increasingly intelligent. The
MOTION+ video motion analysis system that is built
into all camera versions is the perfect solution for
applications where standard video content analysis
features are required.
The IVA version of the camera uses the latest
generation of the Bosch Intelligent Video Analysis (IVA)
software. This IVA system is the guard-assistant
system of choice when reliable indoor or outdoor
video analytics is needed. The state-of-the-art system
reliably detects, tracks, and analyzes moving objects
while suppressing unwanted alarms from spurious
sources in the image.
The face detection feature detects faces in the scene
and forwards a high quality JPEG image of the best
shot of each face when the face disappears from the
scene.
Retrospective forensic search capabilities are available
remotely from the web browser or the Bosch Video
Client.

Simple installation
The camera has a very intuitive user interface that
allows fast and easy configuration. Six configurable
user modes are provided with the best settings for a
variety of applications:
Outdoor general day-to-night changes with sun
highlights and street lighting
Indoor general day-to-night changes without sun
highlights and street lighting
Motion monitoring traffic or fast moving objects;
motion artifacts are minimized
Lowlight optimized for sufficient details at low light.
BLC for people moving in front of a bright
background.
Vibrant enhanced contrast, sharpness and
saturation

The auto-focus lens wizard makes it easy for an

installer to accurately focus the camera for both day
and night operation. The wizard is activated from the
web browser or from the on-board camera push
button making it easy to choose the workflow that
suits best. The automatic motorized back focus
adjustment with 1:1 pixel mapping ensures the camera
is always focused accurately.
Streams
The innovative multi-streaming feature delivers various
H.264 streams together with an MJPEG stream. These
streams facilitate bandwidth-efficient viewing and
recording as well as integration with third-party video
management systems.
An upright mode can be selected for the second
stream. In this mode an image of 400 x 720 (9:16
aspect ratio) is cropped from the full sensor image.
When the scene to be monitored is suitable to this
mode, the bandwidth and storage requirements are
reduced.
Storage management
Recording management can be controlled by the
Bosch Video Recording Manager (VRM) or the camera
can use iSCSI targets directly without any recording
software.
Edge recording
The internal MicroSD card slot supports up to 2 TB of
storage capacity. A microSD card can be used for local
alarm recording. Pre-alarm recording in RAM reduces

Regions of interest
Two Regions of Interest (ROI) can be user defined.
The remote electronic pan, tilt and zoom controls
allow you to select specific areas of the parent image.
These regions produce separate streams for remote
viewing and recording. These streams, together with
the main stream, allow the operator to separately
monitor the most interesting part of a scene while still
retaining situational awareness.
The IVA Intelligent tracker can also follow objects
within the defined regions of interest. The Intelligent
tracker can autonomously detect and track moving
objects or the user can click on an object which the
Intelligent tracker will then follow.
Rugged design
The cast-aluminum housing, polycarbonate window,
and hardened inner liner can withstand the equivalent
of 55 kg (120 lbs) of force (>IK10). Ideal for outdoor
use, the camera is protected against water and dust to
IP67 (NEMA 4X) standards. Using the proprietary pan/
tilt/rotation mechanism, installers can select the exact
field of view. Mounting options are numerous,
including surface, wall, corner, and suspended-ceiling
mounting.
Access Security
Password protection with three levels and 802.1x
authentication is supported. To secure Web browser
access, use HTTPS with a SSL certificate stored in the
camera. The video and audio communication channels
can be independently AES encrypted with 128-bit keys
by installing the optional encryption site license.

secure your network, the D-Link Safeguard Engine helps prevent Denial-of-Service (DoS)
attacks while the Access Control List (ACL) enhances network security. The DGS-3620 Series
is equipped with industry standard management features including easy-to-use CLI and
web-based administrator interfaces. D-Link provides these features on a scalable platform,
increasing your companys productivity while protecting your investment.

IPv6 and IPv4 Routing

Voice and Video Applications

The xStack DGS-3620 Series provides current IPv4 networks with a simple migration path to IPv6 and protects your investment for future network upgrades when
greater security and larger addressing are required. Basic static routing such as RIP
and RIPv2 are supported for small network routing applications. Advanced routing
protocols such as OSPF and equal cost routing are supported for load balancing and
building a scalable network.

For todays businesses, having voice, data, and video on the same network is
common practice. This challenge is met by the xStack DGS-3620 Series, which
support 802.1p with eight queues. The administrator can designate traffic priority
based on a variety of means including IP and MAC address, so that voice data is clear
and jitter-free. Video traffic can also be assigned with the same priority. In addition,
the xStack DGS-3620 Series provides IGMP Snooping, which allows the forwarding
of multicast packets such as streaming audio and video without increasing network
broadcast congestion. By snooping IGMP registration information within a frame,
a list of workstations that have joined the multicast group is created. This list then
allows the switch to intelligently forward packets to only the appropriate member
workstations. For IPv6 traffic, the xStack DGS-3620 Series supports MLD snooping.
Multicast routing is supported under independent multicast protocol, including
PIM-SM, PIM-DM, and PIM-SDM (Sparse Dense Mode). DVMRP is also supported
to interconnect two multicast-enabled networks across non-multicast networks. In
conjunction with support for 802.1Q VLANs, Quality of Service (QoS) and security
can be achieved on a network infused with data traffic.

Stackable up to 12 Units
Each switch in the xStack DGS-3620 Series has four SFP+ Ports to install compatible
modules for stacking provide up to 40Gbps data stacking backplane while in fullduplex mode. This enhances your overall network performance for switches transmitting large files such as graphics or pictures. Under stacking mode, the switches
are hot-swappable. This means that in a stack configuration, any of the switches can
be replaced or removed without affecting the network. There is no need to reconfigure a replacement switch; just give the new switch the same stack number ID
as the old switch and the network will carry the same configuration as before. This
minimizes network downtime and maximizes the productivity of your business.
Also, to facilitate network administration, cross stack port mirroring and port trunking are supported.

The D-Link Safeguard Engine and Security

The DGS-3620 Series incorporates advanced mechanisms to detect an attack
against the central processing unit of the switch and to take corrective action on
the attacking interface. When a DoS attack is waged against any of the DGS-3620
switches, the D-Link Safeguard Engine detects the threat and prevents overload of
the CPU, thus ensuring network integrity and helping to maintain open network
bandwidth channels.
In addition, the xStack DGS-3620 Series offers a variety of authentication methods,
including those without the requirement of a RADIUS server. It supports MAC-based
Access Control, which authenticates the user based on the MAC address of the client so that authentication is transparent to the client. It also supports Web-based
Access Control, which prompts for username and password before allowing access
to TCP traffic. Lastly, the xStack Series supports Network Access Protection (NAP).
This feature works in conjunction with Microsoft software platforms to reinforce
network health and security policies including policy validation, network restriction,
remediation, and ongoing compliance.

Ease of Management
The xStack DGS-3620 Series supports SNMP v1/2c/3 so traps can be set on abnormal
events and information can be polled to maximize network productivity. Other
standard management features also supported include RMON and IEEE 802.1D
Spanning Tree. User interfaces include an intuitive Web-based GUI or standard CLI,
either of which can be protected through SSL or SSH encryption.

Redundant Power Supplies

The DPS-200, DPS-300, DPS-500/500DC, DPS-600,
and DPS-700 redundant power supplies (RPS) are
designed to conform to the wattage requirements
of D-Links Ethernet and Gigabit switches. They are
external RPS units enclosed in solid metal cases with
sockets to AC or DC power sources on one end, and
connect to a switchs internal power supply on the
other end. They provide a low-cost, simple solution
to the problem of an inadvertent failure of the internal
power-supply of an Ethernet switch, which can result
in the shutdown of that switch, the devices attached
to its ports, or an entire network. Supporting full
output power for the switch, these redundant power
supplies can maximize the power availability of the
switching device.
Redundant Power Backup
Each D-Link RPS is equipped with an integrated
detection circuit that continuously monitors the
switchs internal power supply. In the event of a
power interruption, the redundant power supply is
immediately triggered so that the LAN switch and its
connected devices can continue providing service.
This results in a more reliable network infrastructure
and protects the network from going down due to
failure of a single network device power supply.
Easy and Flexible Deployment
Deployment of a DPS series device does not require
any change in the configuration of the LAN switch.
With the exception of the DPS-500DC, each RPS is
equipped with a universal internal power supply, and
can be connected to any AC power source from 90
V AC to 264 V AC, 47 Hz to 63 Hz through a standard
AC power cable. The DPS-500DC provides the same
output power as the DPS-500, but connects to a DC
power source instead of an AC power source.
Modular Redundant Power Supplies:
DPS-200/300/500/500DC
The DPS-200, DPS-300, and DPS-500/500DC are
modular redundant power supplies which can be
installed as independent power supply units or placed
inside a DPS-800 or DPS-900 Rack-mount chassis.
The chasses are designed for mounting in a standard
19-inch equipment rack. Multiple power supplies
can be placed inside a chassis, from which they can
connect to the switches mounted in the same rack.
Rack Mounted Power Supplies: DPS-600/700
The DPS-600 and DPS-700 are 19-inch standard-size
rack mount power supplies designed to improve
flexibility in supporting PoE (Power over Ethernet)
equipment. The DPS-700 also supports 1+1 power
capabilities. When cascading the DPS-700 with a
devices internal power supply, the power system can
provide an additional power budget to the device.
Rack-Mount Chassis: DPS-800/900
The DPS-800 chassis can accommodate up to two
DPS-200, DPS-300 or DPS-500/500DC modules to an
equipment rack.

The DPS-900 8-slot chassis is designed to

accommodate up to eight DPS-200, DPS-300, or
DPS-500/500DC modules. This chassis is useful for
deployment of eight stackable switches mounted in
the same rack.
Using a chassis, users can save space while allowing
for clean cabling. All redundant power supply units
installed in the chassis connect directly to their
power sources, and they are hot-swappable.

Engineered Solutions | BIS - Video Engine (VIE)

BIS - Video Engine (VIE)

www.boschsecurity.com

Video systems are essential to grant security

monitoring and are highly effective in providing
orientation and vital detailed information in all alarm
situations. The foyers, entrances, parking lots and high
security areas of modern enterprises are now
unthinkable without them, and todays systems
typically employ matrix switches with monitor walls,
DVRs and IP-based video networks.
With the Video Engine the BIS family offers a highly
sophisticated application to integrate both Bosch and
3rd party video systems.
Video Engine takes full advantage of the BIS
infrastructure and so allows you to turn your existing
video equipment into a fully-integrated video
surveillance and alarm handling system. By combining
Video Engine with the access, intrusion and fire
detection features of BIS you can create a complete
security solution tailored to your exact needs, all
within one user interface.

Seamless integration of Bosch and 3rd party video

devices under one application with a common look
and feel

Advanced video functionality for enhancing intrusion

and fire detection as well as access control and
intercom through the common BIS platform

Direct Command & Control of video devices from

the BIS GUI

Direct event-log links between, for example,

intrusion alarms and events to corresponding to
video alarm archives on DVRs

Direct integration of live or archive video in BIS

action plans and ACE video verification

System overview
The Video Engine (VIE) is one of the four main
modules in the BIS family. VIE brings the power of
video to your BIS installation, displaying, for instance,
alarm images triggered by an intrusion, or monitoring
sensitive locations within a site. To this purpose the
Video Engine enhances the BIS user interface with a
number of video-specific views and dialogs using up to
4 monitors.
The Video Engine integrates well with active location
maps and event-triggered action plans. These time and
life-saving emergency procedures can now be
triggered by motion or tamper alarms from VIE as well
as by fire, intrusion and access-control alarms from
other BIS engines. Vital information can be provided to
the operator by DiBos/BRS (Bosch Recording Station)
or Divar digital video recorder (DVR).
Video-specific control commands can be automated
and time-scheduled using the BIS rule engine (see BIS
general). They can be triggered by customizable alarm
events or activated manually from context menus or
from icons within a BIS active location map.

2 | BIS - Video Engine (VIE)

Like BIS and the other engines, the Video Engine runs
on a standard PC with a Windows operating system
(Server 2003 / 2008 / 2008 R2, Windows 7 or XP SP3).
This can be a single-workstation or a client/server
system with a central BIS/VIE server and remote
workstations. BIS-VIE workstations support Windows
Vista as well (since V2.2).
