Invelox Wind Turbine Power Generation

Abstract-Invelox is a deep rethinking of the current
problems associated with harnessing the power of the wind.
todays wind power systems have incrementally improved
wind turbine performance, but the gains have only come
from building turbines with ever-larger blades, perched
onever-taller towers, and built at ever-increasing expense. to
date, the cost of wind power still exceeds the cost of power
from coal and natural gas. InveLoX, with its cut-in wind
speed as low as 2 mph, transforms wind energy into a
reliable, baseload power source cheaper than natural gas.
Instead of snatching bits of energy from the wind as it
passes through the blades of a rotor, the wind is captured
with a funnel and directed through a tapering passageway
that naturally accelerates its flow. this stream of kinetic
energy then drives a generator that is installed safely and
economically at ground level. the wind flow from multiple
collection funnels is concentrated in such a way that the
resulting power output rises almost exponentially.

project developers face strong public resis- tance in virtually

all proposed wind farms, which causes the dismissal of the
great majority of their projects. this situation has not only
slowed down the industry, but it has also ledto higher
development costs. InveLoX wind farms are environmentally
friendly, and will not face such resistance. In addition,
InveLoX reduces the footprint of projects considerably,
minimizes aviation
and
military radar interferences,
functions at lower cut in wind speeds, canbe deployed closer
to grid connections, and offers a greater level of reliability
and availability than traditional wind farms. as a result,
InveLoX wind farms will not only be much easier to
implement than traditional wind farms, they will have access
to sites where traditional wind farms cannot be installed.
III. WORKING PRINCIPLE

I. ECONOMICS OF WIND POWER GENERATION

Even though the tax incentives and
government
subsidies have helped to lower the cost of wind power
generation, it is still more expensive than conventional
power generation, such as gas and coal. the cost reduction
of wind power generation is one of the most critical areas
that InveLoX improves. Because the InveLoX system is
shorter, smaller, and has fewer moving parts than a
traditional turbine, it can achieve savings of 16% to38%
per megawatt-hour (MWh) produced. an InveLoX
installation will cost nearly 7% to 11% less to construct, and
40% to 45% less for wind power plant operation and
maintenance than traditional
wind farms.Sheerwinds
simulations and
computer models indicate that the
InveLoX technology can produce three times more power
than a traditional wind turbine. InveLoX makes wind
power generation at a cost of 2.8 to4.1. per kilowatt hour
(kWh) which is extremely competitive when compared to
the generation costs of traditional wind and even natural
gas.
II. REDUCTION IN COST OF WIND POWER
GENERATION
A. Key Benefits of Involex
Ground-breaking solutions to project development and
planning constraintsthe reason wind project developers
have expresseda strong interest in InveLoX is simple: the
technology not only provides greater power output at
reduced cost,it also brings a solution to all the planning and
development issues that have undermined the growth of the
wind energy industry for the past twenty years. In the past
decade, we have seen residents around wind projects
expressing ever increasing concerns over the environmental
and health impacts of wind farms on their communities.

A. Low Cut-in Wind Speed

InveLoX can generate power at wind speeds as low as 2
mph, whereas traditional wind turbines only start generating
at 8.5 mph. InveLoX can therefore be used on very low
wind speed sites. our technology offers a dramatically wider
geographical range of use anda higher level of availability.
B. REDUCED LAND USE

Thanks to its smaller size and its high performance, an

InveLoX wind farm uses only a fraction of the land area
usually required for the operation of traditional wind
farms. InveLoX is designed in such a way that it is less
influenced by the vortex and wake effects that are caused
by the large turbine blades rotation. these aerodynamic
effects impose turbine spacing constraints on traditional
wind farms, and causes them to take up much more space.
InveLoX doesnt face the same challenges as it has no
rotating blades on the top the tower. on average, for a 100
MW project, InveLoX wind farms will use on average 90%
less land than traditional wind farms. on the other hand,
while the traditional wind turbines can

D. IMPACT ON BIRDS
Traditional wind farms represent a risk to birds due to
collision with the rotating blades, interferences
with
migrations, and reduction or loss of habitat. InveLoX,
thanks to the absence of rotating blades and its smaller land
use, contributes to significantly reduce the negative impact on
birds. aviation and Military Radars traditional wind farms can
cause electro-magnetic interferences on aviation and
military radars, and asa result cannot be installed in sites
where such interference would occur. InveLoX turbines do
not interfere with aviation and military radars, and can
therefore be installed in areas inaccessible to traditional wind
farms.

C. VISUAL IMPACT
InveLoX wind farms require
much less land than
traditional wind farms and use fewer towers, standing half
as high as traditional wind turbines. as a result, the visual
impact of an InveLoX wind farm on the landscape will be
considerably reduced. InveLoX offers a notably superior
aesthetic profile to communities.noise Impact and Shadow
Flickers traditional wind turbines produce aerodynamic
noise by the rotation of the blades, which can create
annoyance and interference in the quality of life of nearby
residents. It is noted that the damaging frequency range of
the traditional turbine is below the hearing frequency
ofhuman ear, i.e., below 20 HZ. Low frequency noises
and vibrations are harder to measure and noise experts
still struggle to deal with these issues. Furthermore, the
human organs, such as heart, lungs and brain have
resonance frequencies below 20 HZ, and thus the turbine
noise can create what is known as Wind turbine
Syndrome. By eliminating the need for massive tower
mounted rotors, InveLoX significantly reduces the high
energy and low frequency noise nuisance created by wind
farms and eliminates entirely the shadow flicker issue.

E. DISTANCE FROM GRID

Traditional wind farms can only be installed in areas that
have class3 wind, which is a mean wind speed higher than
14 mph. these areas are often away from the electrical grid
and main transmission lines. therefore, connections need to
be made between the remote areaof the wind power plants

and the regional transmission lines. the development of

such connectivity is costly and time consuming. InveLoX
wind farms can be installed much closer to the point of
connection, and the connection works will be easier and
cheaper to perform.

F. ICING
Traditional wind turbines, in cold climate areas, suffer from
icing which results in performance degradation or
shutdowns. Because InveLoX turbines and blades are
safely installed at or below
ground level, inside the
venturi section of the tower, they will not be subjected to
harsh temperature variations and no icing will occur.
G. TURBINE RELIALITY
Because the InveLoX turbine and generator aresafely
placed at ground level, reliability will increase since they
are not subjected to harsh environmental conditions. For
example, bearings, shafts, blades, and gears are not
exposed to broad temperature changes, humidity, airborne
debris, and excessive winds. our enclosed turbine-generator system will lead to reduced downtime, and result in
more effective maintenance programs.

IV. CONCLUSION
Thus it may be a better solution for increasing
efficiency in commercial renewable power generation

applications it also has good architecture and can be installed

ground level applications.
