Job Title: Medical Doctor

The Durable Solutions Unit in UNHCR Cairo identifies and submits cases for
Resettlement to different countries. One of the criteria for Resettlement is Medical
Needs, for which a completed Medical Assessment Form (MAF) needs to be attached
to the submission. A contracted medical doctor is needed to fill out the MAF as per
the request of the Durable Solutions Unit.
The contracted medical Doctor will perform and carry out the following duties;
Liaise with the Resettlement unit focal point for Medical Assessment Form (MAF)
to keep records of the needed MAF submissions and MAF reporting status.
Liaise with UNHCR medical partners Caritas, Refuge Egypt and Mostafa Mahmoud
Society to visit each partner and prepare needed MAF.
Since the geographical work scope for the contracted doctor is in Cairo, Alexandria
and Damietta, UNHCR Resettlement focal point will arrange for the contracted
doctor to access UNHCR persons of concern for whom a MAF completion and
submission is needed.
Consult UNHCR persons of concern medical records at Caritas, Mostafa Mahmoud
and Refuge Egypt clinics for whom a MAF is requested with the full support of these
NGOs medical directors, doctors and medical secretaries operating at partner
agencies.
Contact by phone UNHCR persons of concern for whom a MAF is to be submitted
with the full support of partner medical NGOs medical secretaries and/or assigned
personnel for making this contact freely and willingly upon the MAF medical doctor
request.
Call upon UNHCR persons of concern for a complementary history and
examination for the MAF as needed at the partner NGOs medical clinics with the full
support of partner agencies to allocate needed privacy and space to that end.
Compile all supportive specialists, laboratory, diagnostic imaging and other tests
reports for the MAF filling with the full support of the partner medical NGOs medical
secretaries and/or assigned personnel operating at both partner agencies including
access to photocopiers for photocopying and attaching needed reports.
Search in the internet for all supportive reliable medical literature extracts to be
reflected in the MAF relevant sections on complementary diagnostic tests further
recommended in the Resettlement countries, disease progress and complications,
treatment lines, prognosis etc. which can better defend the MAF submission.
Call upon UNHCR Durable solutions head of unit support at all times should a
liaising and coordination support be needed with UNHCR partner agencies to fulfill
any of the aforementioned procedural tasks for a MAF submission.

Any other duties related to MAF preparation and submissions as requested by


UNHCR Durable solutions unit.

Faculty of Medicine graduate


In possession of a medical practice license from the MOH
Minimum 3 years in practicing medicine
Proficient in reading and writing English
