A) Components to take note of

1. ***Pronunciation: - Loud and clear
- Break up difficult words and pronounce each part slowly (e.g. university
= uni / ver / sity)
- Do NOT add or take away words from the passage
- Take note of these sounds: 1) end consonants (e.g. d, -t, -k);
2) vowels (a, e, i, o, u); 3) sts (e.g. scientists, costs)
- Do not panic if you make a mistake (e.g. mispronunciation).
Carry on; fluency is important

B) Oral Passage 1
1 Gina has just moved into a new city. At her new school, she is bullied by some nasty
classmates.
2 One day, Gina runs into a secret room and is moved to a strange place. It is a beautiful
world where humans have magical powers.
3 A few humans welcome Gina and tell her that they have heard of her. She is the only person
who can stop a storm that will destroy their planet. Gina discovers that she has incredible
powers, but also finds out that her home planet Earth might die if she saves the magical
world.
4 Gina is forced to choose between a home that does not welcome or love her, and a planet
that needs and worships her. What will Gina choose?
C) Oral Passage 2
1 Today I went to a barber shop at the end of the street to cut my hair. The barber made me sit
on an old chair and began to put some cream on my face.
2 Then, the barber took a rusty scissors and started to cut my hair. While the barber was at
work, he was talking to other customers in the shop. Suddenly, I let out a scream. The barber
had cut me!
3 Immediately, I left without paying the barber. I will never go to that barber again!
