Discussion on product design and control system


KASA Car Rental Services as mentioned before provides the car rental services. This
car rental services is targeted to serve the students of Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS,
UiTM Seri Iskandar and respective people around the vicinity of Seri Iskandar. The
service is not restricted to any specified age group, race, religion, occupation nor
background but with one and only intention of assisting those in need of car rental
service.
With this objective, the 4 partners of KASA Car Rental Services decided to involve in
this service industry. We decided to start off with 4 cars with each car coming from each
partner. Hence, 4 cars which are Alza, Wira, Myvi and Saga were contributed by 4 of us
as a start up capital. These cars were the extra personal cars which we have been
using in our personal daily life. Hence, being as an extra, hence, it will be best to be
used as the start-up for KASA Car Rental Services. Following that, through the bank
loan from Bank Simpanan Nasional 4 more 2 nd hand cars were purchased. They are 2
Viva, a Myvi and a Wira. Following that, the location of premise for this car rental
services were finally decided to be at Taman Maju area after a detailed factor rating
comparison with other 2 locations which were in Seri Iskandar area. Besides that, the
rate for each car is different according to the number of hours of rental service.
Since, this car rental service is mean to be very handy and easy to be accessed hence
the service request procedures are very trouble free and uncomplicated. There are 4
methods to contact KASA Car Rental Services. They are through phone calls, Short
Messaging System, Whatsapp or direct walk in to our premise. Hence, they would
contact to enquire on the availability and type of cars which are ready. Once the type of
car and rates which have been agreed and suits the intention of the customers,
customers are then required to fill up a form with their basic details of name,
Identification Number, driving license number, contact number, and address. They are
also adhered to the rules of regulation of KASA Car Rental Services which they need to
oblige. For that, they need to sign in the agreement once they filled up the form. Once
the details are taken down, copy of Identification Card and driving licensed are kept for

the documentation purpose and also for future any legal issues. From KASA Car Rental
Services side, we make sure the cars are in the best condition in terms of maintenance
and also been equipped with insurance. Besides that, as mentioned previously, if the
customer are unable to come to our premise, we do provide, pick up and drop service
as long the vicinity does not exceed 10km.
Besides that, it is a 100% reliable 24 hours service. This is very much able to achieve
as we 4 partners together with 2 workers take turns in managing the premise by shift.
This rotation is very much needed to have some variety in the overall working hours to
ensure a higher productivity.
Once the car is been rental out, the last 1 hour or 30 minute as per the earlier
agreement of rental hours, the customer will be contacted whether is there any
extending of service or will be sent back. Hence, if there are any additional hours of
rental, hence it will be then recorded for documentation purpose for additional
payments. The time gap of maximum 1 hour will be given to the customers to return the
car once rental hours end. This user friendly method will ease customers if they were
stuck in any emergency or traffic jam before sending the car back to our premise.
Once the car is sent back, a thorough check up on the interior and exterior will be done
by our workers to determine any scratches, marks or accident effects. If there are no
such marks or scratches hence the customers could then proceed to pay the normal
rental charges and leave. If they do need any transport service back to their earlier
location, we would then drop them off. In addition if there are any scratches, marks or
accident effects, customers are then need to pay for the cause. The cost of each
scratches and marks will be determined by the mechanic of us, hence customers need
to adhere to the bills. We are very much open for a monthly based payment, if the cost
is too high for them to pay in short time, this is a user friendly method to attract more
customers. If they insist of not paying them, we may take it for a legal court case.
Moving on to the maintenance part, cars will be sent to maintenance every 5000km
7000km range travelled. This is the basic minor maintenance which car would undergo
basic balancing and alignment service, engine oil change, spark plug changing, and

finally oil filter change. This would be the basic necessary maintenance if they are no

major mishap in between. For the major part is that every year car will be needed to

change brake oil, timing belt and brake pad. This is to ensure a smooth service from the
car rented by the customers. Besides that, for every 2 years, the tyres of the cars are
changed to ensure the safety of the customers. Besides that, every year, car insurance

and road tax are renewed on time to make sure no lost of confidence of customers
towards the car rental services.
