SHUT-OFF VALVES

Inside 80 mm and larger, provide wafer type, tight-closing butterfly valve, 1035 kPa with
cast iron or ductile iron body. For branch and reduced pressure piping only. Do not use on
drainage systems.

Inside 80 mm and larger, provide wafer type tight closing high performance butterfly
valves. Do not use on drainage systems.

On stainless steel piping, provide type 316 stainless steel rising stem gate type with
threaded ends, 1380 kPa. For tubing, provide with stainless steel adapters. Use only on
reduced pressure piping (not exceeding 550 kPa).
CHECK VALVES

For 65mm and smaller, except as noted, provide bronze swing type, except as noted.
B.
80mm and larger, except as noted, provide flanged, swing type, 1380 kPa, except as noted.

SHOCK ABSORBERS
A.
Provide for fixtures using either of the following methods ;except as noted

300 mm long air chamber of same diameter as branch for each individual fixture
(non-flush valve fixtures) ; except as noted

Water hammer arrestors serving a battery of fixtures or water closets shall have a
threaded stainless steel casing, and stainless steel or neoprene bellows. Sizing and
placement data for selecting proper arrestor shall be submitted as a shop drawing
for each application.

Provide on individual water branches to equipment and/or with solenoid valves, water
hammer arrestors, as specified above.
AIR GAPS

Pump discharge, except circulation pumps, provide silent, double center guided, conical
spring type, flanged 1380 kPa wwp, except as noted; 3450 kPa wwp Check Valve for 75
mm and smaller; and for 100 mm and larger.
DRAIN VALVES
A.

Provide brass body, threaded inlet and oversized threaded outlet (up to 20mm and larger
than 20 mm) in accordance with ANSI Standard.
Flow measuring part shall conform to standard of Vietnam or equivalent and more.

City water meter shall be of products with certification from qualified agent for quality
test in accordance with Laws for meters (but, based on the criteria in Vietnam).
C.
Products shall be without problem in remote meter inspection, interface and interlock
with electrical contractor.
PRESSURE GAUGES
A.
Provide 112mm diameter, black enamel cast aluminum case, black epoxy coated steel
ring with shatterproof glass, stainless steel movement with bronze pinion and segment
shaft, having dial with suitable range, brass pressure snubber and brass tee-handle cock.
B.
Locate pressure gauges on water services, inlet and outlet of each master pressure
reducing valve assembly, suction and discharge of pumps, and as noted. Select dial so
that operating range falls in the middle of the dial selected.

Provide an adjustable, pilot controlled, hydraulically operated, single seat, spring and
diaphragm type, with renewable seat and composition disc. Valves that are 100 mm and
larger shall be flanged.

Valve shall be modified and installed in direction of reverse flow in order that valve will
fail in closed position.

Valves shall be capable of reducing a varying inlet pressure to a constant flowing outlet
pressure.

Valves 65mm and smaller shall be threaded bronze body. Valves shall be capable of
reducing a varying inlet pressure to a constant-flowing outlet pressure with pressures.
STRAINERS

For strainers 65mm and larger, provide flanged cast iron body.

Locate on top of each water heater, on top of each pre-heater, on top of each hot water
tank, at outlet of each tempering valve, at inlet to each hot water return pump, and as
noted.
Provide an ASME adjustable bronze body diaphragm pressure type with test lever. Locate
on cold water inlet piping of each hot water heater, outlet of piping of each instantaneous
hot water heater, outlet piping of each indirect hot water heater and outlet piping of each
steam-water mixing valve.

Provide an adjustable, threaded, bronze spring-actuated pressure valve, with test lever,

Provide 20mm, cast brass construction. Locate on all high points in hot water and hot
water return piping and where noted.
THERMOMETERS

Provide a stainless steel or CP brass ring with heavy glass, vapor pressure or liquid
actuated bronze single spring Bourdon tube, with rotary precision movement and suitable
dial. Provide an adjustable angle or rigid union back or bottom connection with copper
bulb. For remote connection, provide copper bulb with metal protective sheathed light
wall flexible copper tubing or unsheathed extra heavy flexible copper tubing.

Fasten the supporting bracket provided to the wall using screws and raw plugs of suitable
dimension for the type of wall.

Water heaters inlet and outlet shall be connected with pipes or fittings which are resistant
to the working pressure as well as the temperature or the hot water that can usually reach
and exceed 80 deg C.

Select the thickness of tank so that no problem is in storing ton indicated in document for
procurement.

Fabrication and installation of tank shall be performed with approval from owner after
preparing fabrication drawings.

Tank shall be installed in accordance with the criteria in Vietnam so that there will be no
problem in maintenance and control.

After installation, water fill test shall be performed, and owner shall confirm if any
problems.
H.
If required, contractor shall be responsible for cost, discussion and approval in case of all
permission.
PART 3 - EXECUTION
3.1
INSTALLATION

Install piping free of traps. Grade and valve the system for complete control and drainage
of system. Drain cocks shall be placed at low points and base of valved risers.

Set steam operated heaters on supports high enough to allow for gravity return of
condensate to condensate pumps.
D.
Connections to existing water mains shall be made with tapping sleeves and tapping
valves. New valves shall be inserting type valves. Minimize shutdowns of existing mains.
Provide additional valves, if necessary. Mains shall be shut down only for work that
cannot be done under pressure.
E.
Water supply connections to plumbing fixtures and equipment shall be over-the-rim water
supplies wherever possible.
F.

Provide missing vacuum breakers and/or check valves, or relocate same to required
positions.
H.
Connections to equipment shall be made with flanges, or unions and threaded adaptors
used for swing connections.
I.
Provide three-elbow swing connections for all water lines connecting to mains, sub-mains
or branch mains.

Brass or copper piping connecting to galvanized piping shall be provided with dielectric
fittings, or flanges.

Pipe drains from relief valves, drain pans, tanks, and pump bedplates to spill over floor
drains or as noted.
