Therockfluidmodelusedfortheanalysismethodsdescribedinthis
Handbookisshownintheillustrationbelow.Fromthismodel,wecan
generateaseriesofequationsthatcanbeusedtocalculatethepetrophysical
propertiesofarock.Theseequationshavebeenderivedbymanyresearchers
acrossalongperiodofyears.Someequationsaretunedtolocalareas,and
maynotbeuniversallyapplicable.Themathematicalalgorithmsselectedfor
inclusioninthisHandbookwerechosenfortheiruniversalapplicability,
althoughmanyregionalizedvariationsprobablyexistformostofthem.
Becauseyoumightneedtomodifyexistingmodels,ordevelopanewoneof
yourown,thebasicreservoirmodelshouldalwaysbeinthebackofyour
mind.
