Personal Statement: (educational goals, commitment to education, evidence to leadership and
scholarships achievement

I have always taken education very serious throughout all of my years. In early
elementary school, I found myself to struggle with reading, writing, spelling and my speech. I
had to go to special classes to work on my Language Arts skills and at an early age they did not
believe that I was going to be able to succeed in school. Not wanting to feel different or left out, I
worked twice as hard to get average grades in school. I continued to work hard to catch up to
other students. In high school, I was able to take Advance Placement classes. Now to most
students did these classes to look better on college application, I choice to take them to prove that
I was able to succeed in advance classes. I took Advance Placement Chemistry, Advance
Placement Calculus and Advance Placement Child Development; which I succeed with high
averages in the classes.

This dedication, hard work and good study habits paid off. My junior year at South Lyon
High School I was accepted into the National Honor Society, where dedication to my community
and school work thrived. My voluntary work at nursing homes, elementary schools and different
places in my community allowed broadening my idea life which was applied to my studies. This
broadening of my learning allowed me to graduate at the Magna Cum Laude.

Upon my arrival to Michigan State University, my study habits have not changed. I
complete all of the readings, assignments and study diligently for the exams. In class, I am the
student whom raises participates with insightful comments each day which allows class
discussions to begin or keep them moving. I use my leadership skills while in group projects to
keep all members on task and often I am the person who delegates who does what part and
making sure they do their parts.
