Issue:
You want to create a non-rectangularopening in a wall, but you can only create rectangular
openings with the opening tool.

Solution:
Solution
The opening tool can only be used to create rectangular openings. If you want to create a
different shape, youneed touse the massing tools. Follow these steps:
1. On the Design Bar, click the Basics tab.
2. On the Basicstab, click Ref Plane and draw a reference plane in plan view. You willuse this
to create the mass element.
3. Change your view to an elevation view showing the wall where you want to addthe opening.
4. On the Design Bar,click the Modelling tab.
5. On the Modelling tab, click Create.
6. In the Family Category and Parameters dialog box, selectGenericModel. Click OK.
7. In the Name dialog box, enter a namefor the Mass element. Click OK.
8. In the Family Editor, click Void Form > Void Extrusion.
9. In the Work Plane dialog box, specify the reference plane created in Step 2.
