PROGRAM
M.B.A. PROGRAM
The university, after achieving the highest position in the field of legal education, has taken an
initiative to launch few programs in the allied field of management and finance. The university has
earlier offered two years full time management programs in Masters in Business Laws &
Administration and Masters Degree in Financial Services and Capital Markets. Due to the feedback
received from the industry, market and students, the university appointed an Expert Review
Committee consisting of Professors from Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, Indian
Institute of Management, Lucknow, Osmania University, Hyderabad, Jawaharlal Nehru Technological
University, Hyderabad and University of Hyderabad to review the existing program and suggest
changes. The recommendations of the Expert Review Committee have added value to the program.
Based on the recommendations of the Expert Review Committee, a novel and vibrant 'M.B.A. Program'
with three major and three minor specializations has been developed.
Objectives of the M.B.A. Program.
To carve out future managers, having the cutting edge knowledge and expertise to meet the
challenges of complex global business environment;
To impart holistic knowledge with experiential skill-sets in order to arrive at appropriate
solutions to the intricate business problems by integrating management education with the
regulations;
To provide requisite inputs to bridge the gap between the business processes and legal
compliances;
To introduce the future managers to the dynamic legal environment to frame and design
the strategic business policies enabling them to overcome the impediments that crop up in
the day-to-day operations of the business;
To provide requisite skills in the court management to improve the efficiency of our judicial
system and
To help the judiciary in the effective discharge of its duty of dispensation of justice and
thereby enabling it to attain its constitutional goals.

Eligibility
Age Limit
The unfilled seats reserved for Scheduled Caste candidates would be assigned to Scheduled Tribe
candidates and vice-versa. If sufficient eligible SC and ST candidates are not available to fill such seats,
they would be reallocated to General Category candidates in order of merit. The vacant Seats of Persons
with Disability Category shall be offered to the All India General Category Candidates in order of merit.
Admission Procedure
The admission for Indian Nationals would be based on the performance at the Admission Test (75
marks), Group Discussion (15 marks) and Personal Interview (10 marks).

Test Centres
The shortlisted candidates will be called for the 'Group Discussion' and 'Personal Interview' during
July 15-18, 2013. The classes will commence from August 1, 2013.
The duly filled-in Application Form should reach the Registrar along with a DD for Rs.2,100/- drawn in
favour of 'Registrar, NALSAR M.B.A. A/c' on or before June 21, 2013 (by 4:00 p.m.).
The applications received after the last date shall not be entertained. The university will not be
responsible for any delay.

COURSE STRUCTURE
The M.B.A. program covers 24 teaching courses, four project courses, and four labs with the close
integration of the disciplines of management and law. As part of the program, every student would
undergo three mandatory internships to appreciate the application of the theory learnt in the class and
to understand the real life situations.

TEACHING
METHODOLOGY
AND
PEDAGOGY
TEACHING METHODOLOGY AND PEDAGOGY
The teaching methodology at NALSAR consists of
judicious mix of class room teaching, project
works, internship programs, industry / business
house visits. Wherever required the case studies
will be used to explain the principles and
concepts.
Corporate interaction being an integral part of the
curriculum, a large platform is provided to the
students through a whole gamut of events round
the year. The students are exposed to the weekly
panel discussions, conferences and workshops
with the best brains in the industry. Conclaves
and summits covering the burning issues in
various disciplines of management give the
students an opportunity to explore the world
beyond books.
There will be a minimum of 16 weeks of teaching
with four sessions (90 minutes duration) per day
for five days a week. Each subject will be
scheduled for a minimum of two sessions in a
week. In addition, six hours per week would be
devoted for the Project Work and three hours for
the Lab Work.
Project Work
Every student has to mandatorily complete one
major project in each semester. The first three
projects to be submitted in the first three
semesters would be the live projects and the
fourth project to be submitted in the fourth
semester would be based on secondary sources
(doctrinal). The projects would deal with the
contemporary business problems and issues.
Each project is considered equivalent to two
courses i.e. six credits.
Scheme of Evaluation
NALSAR favours continuous evaluation of its
students. The evaluation would consist of two
Internal Tests including one Surprise Test, One
Quiz, End-Semester Examination, Project Report
and Internship. Each Internal Test would be of 15
marks each and Quiz would have 10 marks. The
End- Semester Examination would be of 60
marks. The Project Report would be of 75 marks
and Presentation would be of 25 marks and the
Lab Work would be of 100 marks. Students
should secure a minimum of 50% marks to pass a
subject. They will be eligible for the award of
M.B.A. Degree only on successful completion of
the prescribed courses, projects and internships.
The Project Report and Internship Report shall be
between 75 to 100 pages.
To be permitted to take the end-semester
examination, a candidate should have attended a
minimum of 75% of classes. However, a
relaxation of 10% may be given on medical
grounds in appropriate cases.
Internship Reports
Students are required to do three internships in
industry and each Internship Report is assigned
three credits.
Lab Work
Three Lab based courses have been introduced in
the program with an objective to enhance the
skill-sets of the students and equip them with the
expertise for the efficient performance during
their employment. Every course of Lab Work has
a specific objective to train students in the
specified field. The Lab Work in the first semester
is intended to sharpen the Business
Communication skills whereas the second
semester's Lab is aimed towards the Personality
Development and equips students in the
interview skills and techniques. The Lab Work in

Award of Grades
The performance of the students would be
evaluated on a seven point scale with
corresponding grade values as mentioned below:
Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) is
arrived at by dividing the sum of the products of
Grade Values and the Course Credits in each
course by the total number of credits in all the
subjects as per following table:

Prof. Jahar Saha was the Director, IIM Ahmedabad which he served for more than 35
years. In 1975, Prof. Saha started teaching the Production and Quantitative Methods
Area at the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (lIMA). During his tenure at the
institute, he held the position of Director between 1998 and 2002. He had also taught at
Lake Erie College, USA and had been Visiting Associate Professor at the University of
New Brunswick, Canada.
Prof. Saha has been a Member, Board of Governors, Indian Institute of Management,
Indore; Institute of Rural Management, Anand; President's Nominee for Management
Schools in Delhi University, University of Hyderabad and IIT, Bombay; Member,
Advisory Committee, American Institute of Indian Studies, New Delhi; Member, Program
Committee, All India Council of Technical Education, New Delhi; Member, Board of
Governors, Indian Institute of Tourism and Travel Management, Gwalior.
Prof. Laxmi Narain is M.Com, LL.B. (Delhi University), Ph.D. (London School of
Economics). He retired as Professor and Dean, Faculty of Commerce, Osmania
University, Hyderabad. He is the founding Head, Department of Business Management,
Osmania University, Hyderabad. He was Fulbright Fellow at the Harvard Graduate
School of Business, 1980. He got several awards: A.P. State Government's 'Meritorious
Award for University Teachers' (1979-80); appointed 'National Lecturer' by the U.G.C.,
New Delhi (1984-85) in the area of Business Management; distinguished Alumni Award
from Shri Ram College of Commerce, Delhi University, at its Diamond Jubilee in 1986;
and awarded Emeritus Fellowship by the U.G.C.in 1990-93. He has published 10 books
and more than 50 research papers in leading management journals. His areas of interest
are Corporate Management, Public Enterprise Management.

Prof. (Dr) P.R.K. Murti is a technocrat M.B.A having specialized in e-Commerce, IT
applications in Management, Financial Management, Business Analytics and Business
Intelligence. Prof. Murti did his M.Tech (1968) and Ph.D (1973) from IIT, Kharagpur. He
was a Post-doctoral Fellow with the Catholique Universite de Louvain (1974-76) in
Belgium and a Alexander van Humboldt Senior Fellow at the Ruhr University of Bochum
(1976-78), Germany.
Prof. Murti was invited as a Visiting Academic to the
Bournemouth University in 2007.
Shri. Venugopal did his M.B.A. (Finance) from Nagpur University, C.A.I.I.B. (Associate of
Indian Institute of Banking and Finance), F.I.I.I. (Fellow of Insurance Institute of India
from Life branch) A.I.I.I. (Associate in Non-Life Branch from I.I.I.). He also did
Accelerated Leadership Programme (ALP) from IIM-Ahmedabad. Prof. Venugopal is a
qualified professional and an academician in Financial Services possessing more than
30 years' of experience.
Dr. Rao is Chief Financial Officer & Company Secretary, IndBarath Power Infra Ltd,
Hyderabad. He is the Central Council Member of the Institute of Cost Accountants of
India. He was National President of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India. He
obtained his Ph.D on Capital Markets from the School of Management Science,
Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad. He has experience of more than
three decades in Finance, Secretarial, Legal and General Management. He was Member of
the National Advisory Committee on Accounting Standards, Government of India (20012002).

Shri P.K. Jain has 35 years functional experience in Human Resources, Industrial
Relations, Training & Development, Change Management and Organizational
Development Interventions with inspiring leadership skills and professional ethics. He
worked with Aditya Birla Group from 1991 to 2011 as Joint Executive President (HR) and
a certified ABG coach. Mr. Jain designed and conducted more than 100 training
programmes for the employees of Aditya Birla Group and also designed and conducted
40 program outside Aditya Birla Group in all areas of management including HR, IR and
Administration Strategies.

Dr. Rajkumar Pillay is a M.B.A. and Ph.D from Acharya Nagarjuna University, Guntur.
He has more than a decade's teaching experience in the field of Statistics for Managers,
Quantitative Methods, Research Methodology and Financial Mathematics. He has also
worked as consultant with Crux Management Solutions in the area of statistical
analysis using SPSS software.
Shri. K.P.C. Rao is a Fellow member (FCS) of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India
(ICSI), a Fellow member (FCMA) of the Institute of Costs Accountants of India (ICAI),
Fellow Member (FIPA) of the Institute of Public Accountants (IPA), Australia. He is also a
member of the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA), USA.

Dr. Rao was Associate Professor and Dean, Faculty of Law, the ICFAI Foundation for
Higher Education, Hyderabad, (Deemed-to-be-University). He has published more
than 50 articles in various journals in India and abroad. He was invited by the
Association of American Law Schools to participate in their Annual Meet in the year
2010 held at New Orleans (Louisiana), USA.

Prof. Sukhbir Singh is an eminent scholar and teacher of English, American and Indian
literatures. He holds a Ph.D. from the Central University of Hyderabad and an M.A. from
the Panjab University, Chandigarh. He was awarded the Senior Fulbright Visiting
Fellowship at the University of Chicago, IL (U.S.A) in 1994.Recently, he participated in
the World Literature Institute atBilgi University, Istanbul (Turkey) on invitation from the
Harvard University.
Mr. A V Vedupurswar is B.Tech( Hons ) from IIT Kharagpur, PGDM from IIM Calcutta,
and Ph.D in the area of Management from Osmania University, Hyderabd. He has 26
years' experience in industry and academics (teaching and research). He authored
books in the area of Business Strategy and Finance.
Shri Kalyan Ram is a Certified Financial Planner from FPSB India, ICWAI, Bachelor of
Law from Osmania University, NSE Certified Market Professional (Level 4), NCFM
certifications in AMFI, NSDL, Option Trading Strategies, Investment Analysis &
Portfolio Management, Commodities Markets, Derivatives, Securities Market and
Capital Markets. He has 15 years of industry experience as Consulting Research Analyst
in Global Stock Investment markets. He has rich experience in the evaluation of
industrial standards in Financial Markets.
Shri Suryaprakash Misra obtained his M.A. (Economics) from Gokhale Institute of
Politics and Economics, Pune. He went to Clemson University, South Carolina, USA, for
further studies and received his M.S. (Applied Economics and Experimental Statistics)
from the Clemson University. As a GTA at Clemson, he taught Principles of Economics
and Experimental Statistics to undergraduate students for two and a half years. His
areas of interest are Microeconomic Theory and Game Theory.

Prof. (Dr) Faizan Mustafa who holds Ph.D. in the area of Intellectual Property is the ViceChancellor of the university. He was the founder Vice-Chancellor of National Law
University, Orissa. He has also served as Dean, Faculty of Law, Aligarh Muslim University
and Registrar of Aligarh Muslim University. He is the founder Director of KIIT Law School.
He is the Advisor to National Law School & Judicial Academy, Assam. He is known for his
institution building abilities and democratic leadership. He is also visiting faculty to
several reputed institutions in India and abroad. He has written six books and published
more than hundred papers.
Prof. Faizan Mustafa
Prof. Amita Dhanda teaches Justice Theories, Administrative Law, Law and Poverty, Law
and Literature and Judicial Process. Dr. Dhanda joined NALSAR after a fifteen year stint
as the Research Faculty of the Indian Law Institute, Delhi. She has written extensively on
the legal position of persons with mental disability. The Government of India and the
Supreme Court of India have utilised her services to suggest far reaching legal and policy
reform in the field of disability rights.
Prof. K.V.S Sarma is the Head, Centre for Corporate Governance and Centre for Disaster
Management at NALSAR. He is an expert in Business and Corporate Laws. He is also incharge of a) LL.M (Corporate Law & Commercial law) b) Masters in Business Laws and
Administration c) Masters in Financial Services and Capital Markets. d) Graduate
Diploma in Law of Contract Administration and Real Estate Management. He has
authored two books and five monographs.
Prof. M. Sridhar Acharyulu, author of 26 books on Law & Journalism both in English
and Telugu, is a professor at NALSAR University. He also leads the NALSAR Center for
Media Law and Policy. Dr. Sridhar teaches Insurance Law, Alternative Dispute
Resolution and Intellectual Property Rights.

Prof. Vivekanandan received his PhD from National Law School of India Bangalore in the
field of IPR and holds a M.L. Degree in Corporate Law & Securities from Nagarjuna
University. He also holds M.A. and M.Phil Degrees in Public Administration from Madras
University. During 1992-1998 he served as the Bureau head of Dalal Street Journal and
later as Editor and Publisher with Inde Global Communications. Prof.Vivekanandan
specializes in IPR, Cyber Laws and Business Laws and is the Ministry of Human
Resources Development (MHRD) IP Chair Professor. He is an Adjunct Visiting Professor
with the Business School of University of Buffalo, New York since 2007.
Prof.V.C.Vivekanandan
Prof. Vijender Kumar heads the Centre for Family Law and teaches Family Law and
Family Businesses. His books titled Hindu Law of Adoption 2004 and Law Relating to
Domestic Violence 2007 have been very well received. He has also published more than
30 research articles on Hindu Law in reputed law journals. Prof. Kumar has been
awarded 'Academic Staff Commonwealth Fellowship 2009-2010 and he has been
'Visiting Professor' at Kings College London, UK during 2009-10. He is visiting faculty at
National Academy of Direct Taxes (NADT), Nagpur.

Prof. V.Balakista Reddy is the Co-ordinator for M.K Nambyar SAARC Law Center and
Head, Center for Air and Space Law and Course Co-ordinator, LL.M. International Trade
& Business Laws (ITBL), NALSAR. He teaches International Trade Law, International
Business Laws and International Insurance Law. Dr. Reddy obtained his LL.M in
International Law from Osmania University and M. Phil. and Ph.D. in International Air
and Space Law from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi.

Dr. Aruna B. Venkat's field of specialization is Environmental Law which she has been
teaching for several years. She has done her doctoral research in the same area, focusing
on Environmental Protection through Judicial Process: Indian Perspective and
obtained her Ph.D. degree from the Delhi University.

Dr. N.Vasanthi has been working at NALSAR for the past 13 years. She teaches Labor Law
and has conducted a domestic violence clinic. As part of the Criminal Justice project she
coordinated eight workshops on human rights education for persons with disabilities
covering several districts in the State of Andhra Pradesh.

Dr. Raghavendra Rao specializes in Family Law, HR Law and Environmental Law. He
took his M.L (University First and Gold Medalist) and Ph.D in Environmental Law from
Andhra University. He has more than 11 years of teaching and research experience. Dr.
Rao teaches Family Law, Environmental Law, Human Rights, International
Humanitarian Law and Refugee Laws. Before joining NALSAR, Dr. Rao worked as
Faculty at NUJS, Kolkata and M.S. University of Baroda.
Dr.T.Raghavendra Rao
Dr. K.V.K. Santhy teaches Corporate Crimes and Criminal Law. She completed her
LL.M. from Osmania University specializing in criminal law and did her doctoral thesis at
Osmania University on Penal Reforms in India.

Dr. Gade Mallikarjun did his LL.M with specialisation in Labour Laws from Kakatiya
University with first rank and secured two gold medals. He was awarded Ph.D. in 2008
from the same university on the "Contribution of International Labour Organisation to
the Development of Human Rights".

Ms. Neha Pathakji teaches Tax Laws. She has done her LL.M. from the Maharaja
Sajayjrao University of Baroda. Her areas of interest include Taxation, Insurance and
Constitution.

Shri Sourabh Bharti teaches Intellectual Property Laws and Jurisprudence. He did his
LL.B. from Delhi University. He completed his LL.M. from NALSAR and specialize in
Intellectual Property Laws. Besides Intellectual Property Laws, his areas of interest
include Constitutional Law and International Law.
Shri Rajesh Kapoor completed his B.S.L. LL.B. degree from Symbiosis Law College
University of Pune. He obtained his LL.M. from King's College, University of London,
specializing in International Commercial Laws with focus on International Arbitration.
He wrote his dissertation in the field of International Commercial Arbitration under the
supervision of Professor Martin Hunter, an internationally acclaimed scholar of
International Arbitration.

Prof. Vidyadhar Reddy Aileni is a senior Professor in the Department of Business
Management, Osmania University, Hyderabad. He has done M.B.A. from Osmania
University, and Ph.D from Kakatiya University. He is also the alumnus of Indian
Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. He has put in thirty years of teaching
experience. He has served as Chairman and Dean, Faculty of Management of the
Osmania University. He has published about fifty six research papers in National
and International Journals. He is also actively associated with UGC, NAAC, AICTE
and NBA. His areas of research interest are Marketing, and Strategy. He is a Member
Fellow of Academy of Marketing Science, USA. He is a Member on the Editorial Board
of International Academy of e- Business (IAEB), USA, which publishes journal of eProf. Vidyadhar Reddy Aileni Business.

Prof. R. Reddy has more than 18 years of experience in teaching and research in the
area of management. Prior to joining academics Prof. Raghunatha Reddy worked as
Assistant Statistical Officer and Deputy Statistical Officer in the Directorate of
Economics and Statistics (AP) from 1989 to 1992. He has published 52 articles in
the various journals of management. He has guided eight Ph.Ds. He was involved in
the preparation of course material for M.B.A. students of Dr.B.R. Ambedkar Open
University in the area of Capital Budgeting and Risk Analysis. He assisted in
organizing various seminars sponsored by the Department of Technical Education
Government of A.P and Small Industrial Development Bank of India (SIDBI). He has
also authored a book on Managerial Economics & Financial Accounting.

Prof. Sita Vanka is currently Professor and Dean at the School of Management
Studies, University of Hyderabad, Hyderabad. She has over two decades of teaching
experience in the areas of Public Policy Management, Women Studies, Educational
Management, Human Resource Management and Entrepreneurship. She has
several awards to her credit The Best Track Chair Award at the ISSC-09(USA), the
Indo-French Exchange Scholar program for 2008 by the Government of India, Silver
Jubilee Fellowship for advanced research in HRM at IIM-Ahmedabad, Best Case
Study, Best Research Paper Award in 2005 & 2006.
Dr. G.B. Reddy is a lawyer turned academician. He obtained his LL.M. and Ph.D.
Degrees in law from Osmania University, Hyderabad. He has had a brilliant
academic record with three Gold Medals in LL.B. and one Gold Medal in LL.M. He
has authored 18 well received books.

NALSAR LIBRARY
NALSAR university believes that knowledge
resources are the bedrocks for learning and tools
for shaping the budding professionals. It has
augmented the print collections, online
resources, physical and electronic journals
published by the national and international
publishers in an independent building having
three flours (50,440 Sft.).
The operations of library are fully automated.
University uses updated Virtual Library
Software. Library subscribes Westlaw, EBSCO,
Manupatra, JSTOR, Lexis Nexis and Hein
Online. Subscription to the above Databases
provides access to more than 6000 journals. All
these databases are accessible from any
terminal in the campus. Apart from internet
based resources, we also subscribe to judicial
decisions in CD-ROM format. Supreme Court
Cases Online, AIR (Supreme Court and High
Courts), Annual Survey of Indian Law, Journal of
Indian Law Institute, ExCus the Patents & Trade
Marks cases, Honey Bee and Chartered
Secretary (1971-2006) are accessible from eight
networked desktops in the library.
The library portal is designed with dynamic links
that would help you to navigate through various
services. As soon as a new issue of periodical is
received, the table of contents page is scanned
and uploaded on the site, so as to enable the
users to browse the articles of their interest. The

Guest House
Accommodation is provided in the guest house
for the Visiting Faculty, Academicians and
Members of the judicial fraternity.
Accommodation is also given for shorter
durations to parents of students subject to
availability and advance notice in that regard.

Convention Centre
A state-of-the-art Convention Centre is in place
and is being used exclusively as a self-contained
facility for organising National and International
Conferences, Training Programmes, Workshops,
Summer Courses for the National and
International students and also programmes for
Bar in continuing legal education etc. The air
conditioned rooms in the Centre are well
furnished, possessing essential facilities,
including internet connectivity, facilitating
participants to have all their needs fulfilled at
one place.
Auditorium
Construction of the Auditorium with the capacity
of 800 people has been completed. Interiors are
being presently done. This will be used for
organising the University Convocations,
International Conferences and Seminars etc.
Transport
The university has two buses for providing
conveyance facility to both Faculty and
Administrative Staff who reside in the twincities. These buses are also used for some
students'activities. The campus is well
connected to the twin cities of Hyderabad and
Secunderabad by the A.P. State Road Transport.

Bank
Indian Bank branch has opened its branch at the
Shameerpet Village. Students can open account
with the Indian Bank. An ATM counter is
available on the Campus to cater to the
requirements of students and staff.
Health Centre
The university has its own Health Centre with
one Male Medical Officer, Female Medical Officer
and a Resident Nurse. In case of serious
ailments, on the advice of the Doctor, facilities
are provided for admittance in hospitals in the
twin-cities for timely attention and care. The
hospital expenditure in such cases should be
borne by the student. Ambulance facility is also
provided round the clock for the students in case
of medical emergency.

Life at Hyderabad
Founded by Quli Qutub Shah in 1591, this large metropolis is unique in its rich architectural glory and
blend of diverse linguistic, religious and ethnic groups and an ideal place indeed for enriching
knowledge. The weather for most part of the year is pleasant except for the months of April and May
when the temperature is likely to go up to 40C. The intellectual climate is vibrant. Hyderabad has
become an educational hub. The city hosts two central universities, three deemed universities, and six
State universities. The Indian School of Business and Indian Institute of Technology are also there
besides leading institutions like Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, International Institute of
Information Technology, Indian Institute of Chemical Technology and the Centre for Cellular and
Molecular Biology.
