Telaga Warna
The king of a famous kingdom in Cipanas, West Java, was very wise man. He had a beautiful daughter.
The king and queen loved their daughter so much. But all their love was not enough for the princess. Even
though they gave her everything, she was not happy. All the jewelries that they had were not enough for her.
She was not satisfied with her gorgeous look either.
The princess then had an idea. She planned to put all the jewelries that they had in every single hair in
her head. She wanted to be the most beautiful girl in the world. So the princess went to see her mother and
father and told them about her plan. She was very sure they would not say no. The king was surprised to hear
about his daughter plan. He tried to convince her that her plan was not proper.
My Daughter, the beauty of a princess is not measured by her clothes or by the jewelry she is wearing,
but by her attitude. It's not that we don't love you, but what will people think if you go through with your
plan? said the king. The princess was shocked to hear that. So she ran to her room to get her jewelry box.
Then she returned to her parents. She screamed, You are so miserable. Here, I am returning the every single
jewelry you ever gave me. She threw her jewelry box to her father.
The wise king was outraged seeing his daughter did. You are ungrateful daughter!
Suddenly, the floor of the palace erupted and water poured out from the crack. In a matter of second
the palace flooded, drowning the ungrateful princess and her jewelry. The palace then turned into a lake.
The lake always reflects multiple colors to its surrounding. Some say the colors come from the
princess's jewelry. The lake is known as Telaga Warna that means colorful lake.
13. What is the purpose of the text?

Dear Matthew,
I had the best weekend! Our Youth Group went to New Chum Ranch for horse riding camp. We
arrived on Saturday morning and were assigned to our bunk houses. After lunch, we received some
instruction on how to mount our horses and how to make it go right or left. We learned the techniques
for stopping and starting and keeping our horse away from tempting grass!
Then it was time to go for trail ride. I was given George to ride. He was easy to control but some
other horses werent. Toni was on Pudding which kept trying to trot. Stacy had Yeager and spent his
time biting the other horses on their rumps. We rode for about an hour and a half. After that we
climbed a hill nearby. We enjoyed the beautiful scenery around apple gardens. The staff members
allowed us to eat some apples. We could also bring some for our parents at home.
We had such a good time. I hope our group goes there again.

walking away, without even thanking her, she said as much. You think I would pay you? cried the wolf, finding
his voice. After digging into my throat with your long beak? You should be glad I dont eat you, you ungrateful
bird! Go away, and dont get under my paws again!
