PRIMER ON INTEGRATED ALLIED SOCIAL

SERVICES PROGRAM

WHAT IS THE INTEGRATED ALLIED SOCIAL SERVICES (IASS)

PROGRAM?

The IASS program plays a supplementary role to the harmonized and integrated
program of the Parole and Probation Administration (PPA). It focuses on the children
and other minor dependents of the client because the Agency believes that the client’s
family plays a major role in the rehabilitation process. Under the said program, effective
interventions relative to the growth and development of the minor dependents are done to
help them become self- reliant, economically productive and socially responsible citizens
of the country. Thus, the minor dependents contribute in uplifting the condition of their
families, communities and country. The program also prevents the minor dependents
from becoming involved in juvenile delinquency and provides them with the
opportunities to maximize their potentials.

WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF THE IASS PROGRAM?

1. Engages clients’ children in various activities that will promote their social
and economic development such as food production, volunteer community
services, health and sanitation, population awareness, prevention of crimes,
protection and conservation of natural resources and improvement of the
natural resources.

2. Encourages, facilitates and creates opportunities for self-expression and

behavior formation among these children for self-fulfillment and social
awareness.

3. Strengthens their basic, social, moral and cultural values, enhance social
functions and develop human responsibility for the betterment of their families
and respective communities.

WHAT ARE THE REASONS FOR THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE

PROGRAM?

1. To provide the children/dependents of probationers, parolees, and pardonees

with the basic skills in coping with the correctional program of their respective
parents/significant others;
2. To promote and protect the physical, moral, spiritual, intellectual, emotional
and social well-being of the youth and children so that they may develop their
potential for improving the quality of life, particularly with regard to the
reintegration of their parents/significant others in the social mainstream;

3. To encourage and involve the youth and children in character building and
development activities for civic efficiency, stewardship of natural resources,
agricultural and industrial productivity to reduce the incidence of poverty,
promote crime prevention and accelerate socio-economic development; and

4. To enhance the youth and childrens’ abilities, talents, and skills, and stimulate
their creativity.
