Lesson Objectives
As a result of this lesson, students will be able to:
Identify a variety of ways that businesses advertise their products and services using information technology

Explain the elements of an effective advertising strategy

Construct a basic advertising strategy to promote a business product or service

This Weebly series can be completed at each


students own pace or can be dictated by the
teacher. Students with learning difficulties can
be sat with and monitored at their own pace.

Motivation and Introduction:

1. Take the roll. Read out any messages/notifications.


2. Introduce the new topic of Advertising. Instruct students to log
onto the computer and type the Weebly site written on the board
into google search.

3. Introduction activity: Watch the YouTube Coca-Cola ad Make it


Happy. Explain what an advertisement is and the purpose of
ads. Explain that advertising is everywhere.

4. Pick a student to read the next paragraph. Instruct students to

analyse the Vans ad and instruct them to type what parts of the
Vans print ad captures their attention. Students will type their
ideas on a shared document on Google Docs all students can
type on the same doc at once and share ideas. Each class has
their own separate document.

5. Ask students what they think makes an ad in general an effective


one one that communicates the message across and achieves
the objectives of the advertiser changing the behaviour of
thinking pattern of the recipient.
6. Students can brainstorm their answers on Padlet each class
has their own Padlet. Students will have to doubleclick on Padlet
in order to type a message.
7. Go through the Prezi to learn about the Advertising Strategy of
businesses. Read through with the class.
8. Once finished instruct students to read Task 1 pick any preexisting product e.g. Nike high tops, and get them to create an
advertising strategy on a Word document.
Lesson Closure:(Review lesson objectives with students)
9. Students to save all work following the Weebly instructions.
Students to log off and pack away.
