CHAPTER 2

Research Methodology

Research Method
The respondents were asked to rate their corresponding answers from the choices
given to each question. The questionnaire proper includes questions dealing with the online services of Lazada of the students of Far Eastern University. The result of the
stratified sampling guided the researchers in the distribution of the sample respondents in
FEU.

Population, Sampling Size and Technique

The participants of the study is composed of Far Eastern University - Manila
students. The population is composed of students from different institutions established
therein. These institutions are Institute of Accounts, Business and Finance, Institute of
Arts and Sciences, Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management, Institute of Architecture
and Fine Arts, Institute of Nursing and Institute of Education. Selected respondents will
be the subjects for evaluation.

Stratified random sampling with 5% margin of error was used to get the sample
size needed in this study. It was used to get the sufficient number of respondents per
major.

Description of Respondents
A total of 48 respondents were needed, wherein to follow.
However, Graduate School was excluded from the respondents.

Research Venue
The survey and other data-gathering procedures were conducted within the
grounds of Far Eastern University, Manila located at Nicanor Reyes Jr. St. Sampaloc,
Manila.

Research Instruments
The primary source of data used in this study was the structural survey
questionnaire. The structural survey questionnaire for the students composed of the
legends such as (1) strongly disagree, (2) disagree, (3) agree, and (4) strongly agree that
was computed using the mean, median, and mode formula. The secondary source of data
came from published articles in business journals, newspapers and related studies in
spending habits of student as well as interviews from knowledgeable students.

Data-gathering Procedure
For this research, the researchers gathered data by giving survey questionnaires to

the selected respondents from Far Eastern University - Manila population.. After
gathering the data from the survey questionnaires, the researchers summarized the
information and the results from the survey, made conclusions based in the hypothesis
and provided insightful recommendations.
In presenting and interpreting the data gathered by the researchers, statistical tools
were used. To present the gathered data, the researchers used tables that are properly
labeled. Percentage was used to represent the relationship of the individual data with the
whole.

Statistical Treatment of Data

The statistical tools used in this study are Frequency distribution and weighted
mean. The researchers computed for the weighted mean based on the data gathered using
the four-point Likert scale to define the view of the respondents.
Formula for the frequency distribution:
Relative frequency =
frequency(f)
Number of observations (n)
Percentage frequency =
Formula for the weighted mean:

relative frequency(f) X 100

Weighted Mean = wx
w
Formula for the median:
The median is the point in the distribution above which and below which 50%
of the scores lie. In other words, if we list the scores in order from highest to lowest (or
lowest to highest) and find the middle-most score, thats the median.
