RSVP Partner Sites & Volunteer Opportunities:


Central Seattle
American Cancer Society Road to Recovery: Seeking volunteers for this essential
program. Join a group of volunteers who drive cancer patients to and from medical facilities for
life-saving treatments. The schedules are flexible. Mileage reimbursement available. If you have
a car and can spare as little as one morning or afternoon a month to help somebody along the
Road to Recovery, they would welcome your help.
Atlantic Street Center (ASC) is a nonprofit child and family service agency whose mission is
to help families and communities raise healthy, successful children. Volunteers are needed to
work directly with children, youth, and/or adults as tutors and mentors. Volunteer
opportunities are located in the Rainier Valley, Central District, Beacon Hill and New Holly.
Bloodworks Northwest: Become part of the lifesaving link that delivers blood to patients in
need in your community. Many opportunities available depending on whether you prefer to be
a donor monitor, making certain donors feel well after donating or working at the front desk,
or greeting and registering donors in the computer system. Weekly shifts, Monday Saturday
during the day and some evenings are available. Volunteers especially needed in downtown
Seattle.
Broadview Emergency Shelter: A program of Solid Ground, Broadview is an emergency
shelter and provides transitional housing. Volunteer opportunities are flexible and occur mostly
in the evenings. They include one-on-one tutoring for children and adults.
Cancer Lifeline: Help while volunteering from your home! 24 hour Lifeline provides
emotional support and resource referrals for all people living with cancer: patients, survivors,
friends, family members, caregivers and co-workers. Should be comfortable listening to
profound emotions, be a good listener and be able to provide non-judgmental support. Must
have phone and have access to the Internet. 30 hours of training provided. Commitment of up
to 4 daytime shifts a month asked.
Central Area Senior Center is a program of Senior Services that addresses the social,
educational, and health needs of older adults. Activities include exercise programs, computer
classes, guitar lessons, dance classes and recreational trips. Volunteers are needed to support the
community dining program.
Circle of Friends for Mental Health: This wonderful group works to improve the lives of
people with pervasive mental illness through classes and community outreach programs. Share
your skills as a class leader, an assistant leader, or help provide administrative assistance.
Training provided. Classes offered at several facilities in Central and North Seattle.

Communities in Schools of Seattle: Helping kids stay in school and prepare for life is what
volunteers do through CIS. Volunteer opportunities include, reading buddies, math tutors,
middle school math coaches, and coordinating or helping out at events. You can also help
coordinate or sort items for our Stuff the Bus school supply drive during the summer.
Cooking Matters: A program of Solid Ground designed to teach low income families how to
prepare healthy and tasty meals on a limited budget. We are looking for volunteer chefs,
nutritionists and assistants for 6 week courses as well as volunteers to assist as grocery shoppers
and help pick up and deliver groceries to Cooking Matter sites at various Seattle-area locations.
Training provided.
CourtWatch: Interested in learning more about the criminal justice system? Would you like to
help improve this process for victims of sexual assault and abuse? CourtWatch is recruiting
volunteers to serve as court monitors. Our monitors sit in on court cases, take notes, and report
back about what they observe. Volunteer positions are available at the King County Superior
Courthouse in Seattle and the Maleng Regional Justice Center in Kent.
The Educurious solution is an innovative curriculum that uses a blended learning model
featuring teachers as guides, relevant and interesting projects for students, as well as
professionals to provide feedback and real world experiences to students. We are in need of
volunteers professionals to serve as virtual mentors for high school students. All
communication with the students is flexible and can fit it in around volunteer schedules. It is
not necessary to visit the classroom or be available during school hours.
FareStart: FareStart delivers meals to local area homeless shelters 365 days a year! On a
shelter run, you help pack up meals for transportation and deliver them to local homeless
shelters, then have an opportunity to serve dinner at the Downtown Emergency Service Center
alongside FareStart chefs and students. No driving necessary. Shelter runs happen daily from 3
to 6:30 p.m.
First Place Scholars Charter School is Washingtons first chartered school and is devoted
to helping K-5th grade children and families who are vulnerable due to being in transition, in
crisis, or homeless. Volunteer tutors and mentors are needed.
Full Life Care: Assist or lead a variety of fun activities for frail elders and people with
disabilities. Help them maintain an independent and dignified lifestyle by enhancing their
physical, social and cognitive functioning. Volunteers needed between 9am and 2pm MondayFriday or anywhere in between. The ElderFriends program which is part of Full Life Care
needs volunteers as well. Make regular visits with an isolated older adult 2 3 times a month.
Spend time with them cooking, talking, and going on walks, to appointments or to the movies.
Training and ongoing education/support for volunteers provided.

Jewish Family Service: The food bank program needs home delivery volunteers. Once a
month, provide home delivered groceries to between 5 and 10 clients unable to come in the
agency and use the Food Bank. These clients are either disabled or elderly.
King County Bar Association Neighborhood Legal Clinics are looking for phone line/
intake and referral volunteers who are committed to social justice and interested in helping
people in their community. This program offers free limited legal advice and referrals to King
County residents who might otherwise have no access to the legal system. Volunteers will
answer phone calls, perform basic intake with clients, schedule legal clinic appointments and
provide referral information to other community agencies.
KCSARC: The King County Sexual Assault Resource Center needs CourtWatch volunteers.
Volunteers observe court proceedings and participate in questionnaires and debriefings to
ensure proper treatment for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. Volunteer
opportunities are available in Kent and Seattle. Training is provided. Internet and email access
required.
Nikkei Concerns: Nikkei Concerns is established to provide health and related services in a
traditional atmosphere to primarily Japanese American families in the Pacific Northwest.
Volunteers needed for companionship and activities in the adult day center in both Seattle and
Bellevue.
NW Parkinsons Foundation: Help us bridge the gap between diagnosis and the cure for
Parkinsons disease! NWPF provides programming, information and support to people living
with Parkinsons and their loved ones. Volunteer opportunities range from event help to office
assistance. We are looking for volunteers with an empathetic heart and a can-do attitude. Join
us at an event for the day or around the office on a regular basis!
Pacific Science Center: Volunteer opportunities in the Center facility and as part of its
promotional and marketing team. Assist inside a brand-new Maker Space named Tinker Tank
which aims to inspire visitors of all ages to make things - using their hands, provided tools, and
imaginations! Creative, outgoing, and enthusiastic individuals that like sharing with others are
well suited for this position. Or be part of the promotional team by representing the Science
Center at events by marching in parades, staffing interactive booths and working in a team to
promote the Centers many diverse programs.
Seattle Goodwill: Whatever the lengths of time, volunteers know that their contribution is
time well spent, and those at Seattle Goodwill consider the gift to be priceless. Volunteers are
needed for English as a Second Language (ESL) tutors.
Senior Services of Seattle-King County: Put your good self to good use by helping Senior
Services in a number of Senior Centers. Volunteers needed in community dining programs to
help prepare and set tables for lunch, assist in the preparation of food, serve lunch to guests,

and clear dishes and assist with clean up. Meals on Wheels drivers are needed to be responsible
for the delivery of meals within a designated route. Also an opportunity to become involved in
a pilot pet food Meals on Wheels project.
Solid Ground: (Sponsor of RSVP in King County) Solid Ground works to end poverty, undo
racism and other oppressions that are the root causes of poverty by providing housing, food,
transportation and other services to at risk populations across King County. Volunteer
positions are open in many of the more than 23 different programs we administer.
Opportunities include nutrition education, helping at the community farms, supporting
outreach efforts and more.
Volunteer Chore Services currently has open volunteer positions for drivers, grocery
shoppers and companionship providers. Volunteer to assist another senior or disabled adult in
their community. With your support, these individuals can remain living independently and
safely in their own homes. Volunteers help with minor household repairs, yard care, housework
and laundry help, as well as shopping and running errands. Mileage reimbursement available.
Volunteer Chore Services has a special project called Phone Buddies that seeks to connect
isolated elderly and disabled adults with members of the community through weekly phone
conversations. Many older adults live isolated lives at home without the ability or means to
travel outside. Some do not have family or friends in their local area or no longer have these
supports in their lives. If you are able to donate time once a week to have a phone conversation
with an isolated adult, please let us know.
Volunteer Chore Services Speakers Bureau: Do you enjoy speaking in front of groups,
giving presentations and interacting with the public at events? Become a Community Outreach
Volunteer to help with recruitment at in person events. Commit 2-6 hours per month; some
evenings and weekends.
Youth Tutoring Program: Help individual students or small groups of students with reading
and skill building in language arts and math. Involve students in stimulating learning activities.
Make learning exciting, relevant and creative. Variety of locations throughout King County.
