LESSON PLAN

TEACHER: Popescu Ella
LEVEL: the 10th grade
TOPIC: Present Tenses- Revision
SKILL DEVELOPMENT: speaking, listening, reading, writing.
AIMS:
to encourage students to focus on previous knowledge acquired;
to get students to communicate with one another in order to solve a
task;
to enable students to use different patterns in solving exercises;
to practice and consolidate Present Tenses
TEACHING AIDS: handouts, notebooks, blackboard.

I. PREPARATION
The student on duty reports those absent.

II. RELATING THE NEW MATERIAL TO PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE


I will ask students some questions about the present tenses studied. They
will give examples of some sentences using verbs in the present tenses.
I will ask them to enumerate time adverbs and expressions for each present
tense.

III. THE TOPIC OF THE LESSON
I will announce the topic of the lesson and I will write on the blackboard the
title: Present Tenses-Revision.
IV. ACTIVITY 1
6 min.
With students help, I will write on the blackboard some examples of
sentences for each type of present tense and afterwards, some time adverbs
and expressions that are used with the present tenses.
V. ACTIVITY 2
8-9min.
The class will be divided in four groups and each student in each group will
receive a sheet of paper with four paragraphs. The groups will have the same

task: to read one paragraph, recognize the verbs in the present tenses and put
them down in their notebooks.
After solving the task, each leader of the four groups will come to the
blackboard to write the verbs under the appropriate heading.
VI. ACTIVITY 3

The students will have to solve two exercises in which they place the verbs
in brackets in the correct form.
VII. ACTIVITY 4
4min.
The students will have to ask and answer some questions according to a
model and using some key words in order to practice Present Perfect Simple
and Present Perfect Continuous Tenses.
VIII. ACTIVITY 5 INTERACTION
8min.
Half of the students will be given some slips with answers to some
questions. One by one, the others will draw a question from an envelope and
will read it to the class. The student who has the right answer will stand up
and read it. The others will say if it is correct or not.
IX. FIXING TEST
4min.
Each student will get a sheet of paper with an exercise. They will solve it
and their answers will be orally checked. They will have to match the verbs
in the sentences with their use.

XI. ASSIGNMENT

Students will have to translate some sentences into English.
I will give students some explanations of the unknown words.
