Definition

1.)

Computer is a machine that manipulates data according to a set

of instructions.

Novel is defined by a combination of factors, including content,

scope, style, and place within its literary historical context.

Electricity is a basic part of nature and it is one of our most

widely used forms of energy.

3.) Sound Card

Enables the computer to output sound to audio devices, as well as

accept input from a microphone. Most modern computers have
sound cards built-in to the motherboard, though it is common for
a user to install a separate sound card as an upgrade. Most sound
cards, either built-in or added, have surround sound capabilities.

4.)

A sound card is a computer expansion card that facilitates the

input and output of audio signals to and from a computer under
control of computer programs. Typical uses of sound cards
include providing the audio component for multimedia
applications such as music composition, editing video or audio,
presentation, education, and entertainment (games)

Sharpening Scissors

I.) INTRODUCTION

We use scissors for many everyday activities, from slicing open

food packaging to trimming photos for scrapbooks. All scissors,
however, eventually turn dull and need to be sharpened.

II.) PROCEDURE

1.) You can use inexpensive tools or everyday household

items to restore the cutting edge to your scissors.

A.) Hold the beveled edge of one blade against a

sharpening stone, which you can find at hardware
stores.

B.) Match the angle as closely as possible and slide the

blade forward diagonally along the stone, moving from
the end toward the screw (point to pivot)

C.) Repeat with the other blade, again matching the

angle.

D.) Open and close the scissors a few times to knock

off any burrs that might be left.

III.) CONCLUSION

Make sure that your problem is, in fact, the dullness of the
scissors, and
Always clean the scissor blades with a rubbing alcohol

6.) Computer

Computer is no longer something new and magical to many

people nowadays, because many families now have at least one
computer in their homes. It is without doubt that there are
thousands and millions of computer users in the
country, but is it ever possible for all of them to explain how a
computer works? No. Alright, can they even classify the
components of a computer appropriately? Not quite. They may
know how to describe the physical appearance of a computer and
they will probably include two or three other terms as well, such
as monitor, keyboard or a mouse. Nonetheless, classification of a
computer should not be done this way. In fact, a computer can be
broken down into three distinct categories, namely output, input
and CPU.

The term 'output' consists of all components that display words

and graphics so that a person can see them. Many people can
easily understand why the monitor is a form of output device
since it is the screen that tells them what
the computer is actually doing. Simply put, without a monitor, the
computer itself is basically useless. Another form of output, which
is rarely noticed by many computer users however, is the printer.
Many people have probably
used a printer before, but it is just that they never realize it is also
a form of output.

As opposed to 'output', 'input' consists of components that take in

information from the users themselves so that the computer will
know the tasks it is supposed to perform and accomplish. The
keyboard is classified as a form of input
because this is where the users enter commands and text. There
are many other forms of input as well. Nonetheless, many people
just don't realize them, or are too lazy to classify them. For
instance, the mouse belongs to input, since it provides a floating
pointer on the screen so that the users can access commands
faster and easier. The scanner is another form of input, because it
acts like a
photocopier, except it scans the image and makes it onto the
computer screen instead of onto a piece of paper.

The CPU, Central Processing Unit is probably the most important

category of the three. As the name implies, it is the soul of a
computer, very much alike the human brain.
For unknown reasons though, people often call the CPU a
computer. This is absolutely incorrect. The word computer is
merely a general term which must always include all the three
categories in order to operate. Perhaps the
constituents of a CPU itself should be mentioned. Simply stated,
this central unit must have memory blocks to store data
temporarily; disk drives to store data permanently; and last but
not least, the main processor chip which
performs all the jobs and mathematical calculations, as well as
determines the speed of a CPU.

How to take down notes

1. Organize yourself prior to your note-taking

engagement. Whether you are attending class or attending
a seminar or conference, make sure to bring everything that
you will need to be a good listener and an efficient note-
taker. Don’t forget ample paper, writing utensils and, if
necessary, eyeglasses and/or hearing aids. Always have a
backup pen or pencil, preferably two or three.

2. Position yourself in an area of the room where you

can effectively see and hear the speaker. Have trouble
seeing the blackboard? Arrive early to make sure you get a
front row seat.

3. Think about what you want to retain. Why are you

taking the class? Why are you attending the seminar? Why
did your employer send you to the conference? While it may
be your first instinct to try and write down what you hear or
see verbatim, you have to remember that you are taking
notes, not writing a novella (there is another wikiHow article
that will tell you how to write a novella).

4. Focus on recording information that is new to you. As

tempting as it might be, taking notes about stuff you already
know doesn’t end up helping much in the end.

5. Create a system of note-taking that allows you to

write quickly and get down basic concepts, but which
will also allow you to quickly find information in your
notes later. Consider using an outline format, for example
or clearly separating your notes into different sections (or
columns if you are using a steno pad or a computer).

6. Compose your notes in a concise and legible fashion.

If you can’t read your notes you are either writing too much
or may need to consider using a computer.

7. Use short and meaningful phrases, and abbreviate

when necessary. Don’t use abbreviations that you won’t
recognize later.
8. Highlight key words and phrases—make the important
things stand out. If the speaker emphasizes a certain
concept, make sure to do the same in your notes

9. Utilize symbols with meanings; symbols like arrows,

dots, boxes, diagrams, charts, and other visual notes are
often great ways to associate and remember key concepts.

10. Write your notes for the future. When you are in the
situation, be cognizant that you will have to return to the
notes later and understand your notes. If you have time,
review your notes as the speaker communicates familiar
material. Otherwise, go back and review them immediately
after the lecture, when the topics are fresh in your mind.

11. Share your notes with others; trade and exchange notes
to increase your materials and to enhance your learning. If
you plan on sharing your notes with others it will often
motivate you to take copious notes that are legible and
understandable.

8.)

• Today's computers can do so many things that it's important

to determine which features you really want. Do you want to
play computer games, surf the Internet, burn DVDs or store
a lot of files? All of these activities require a computer
system with certain characteristics.
• Before doing anything, set your budget. You should plan to
budget no more for your computer than you can absolutely
afford to spend. Doing so will keep you from being lured into
spending more on an attractive computer and will also give
you a tool to help fend off aggressive sales people.
• Before you start to shop for your first computer, come up
with a list of the qualities that are really important to you.
• Purchase a computer with a fair warranty and return policy,
and a high specs. That are the characteristic of our computer
that we offering to your company.

9.)
In repairing a computer you must first gather the tools. The tools
are, reformatting tools(CD, installers), brush(for cleaning the hard
drives), and screw driver. The first thing the technician must do is
to open the CPU(central processing unit) and clean the hardware
using the brush so that there is no interference on the hardware.
The other reason why you must clean the hardware is to eliminate
the dust so that the fan will work properly and overheating can be
avoided. After cleaning the hardware the technician must check
for viruses, after checking he must make sure to have a backup of
the file in the computer. Then he can use the reformatting tools to
reformat the operating system. After the reformatting of the
system is done the owner of the computer can use his computer it
again.

IT Profession

Advantages
IT does not make commitments. And, even if it does, IT does not

believe it has an obligation to meet the commitments (dates,

costs, scope).

Disadvantages

There's no career path in IT and no way to differentiate the

quality professionals from the marginal ones. Everyone has the
title of developer. Some people have the title of architect without
any definition of what this means. In most cases, an architect is a
junior-level person who has training in a new technology but no
experience designing systems.

Additionally, IT is the only profession where experience is

considered a negative. If IT professionals have more than 10
years experience, they are considered obsolete and undesirable.
As a result, junior staff are developing new applications while the
experienced staff are assigned to support legacy applications.

Cause and Effect

13.)

1. Why should the trees and wild life be saved

Cause
The problem of global warming has been caused by the addition
of more greenhouse gas into the atmosphere. The gases
responsible will rise into the air whether humans are here or not;
the problem is that much of basic human activity in the 20th and
21st century produced greenhouse gas at a level never
experienced before. Basically, any activity that produces one of
the gases listed above is a cause of global warming; everything
from driving a car to using electricity. Because trees act as a
natural conversion plant to transform carbon dioxide into oxygen,
deforestation contributes to global warming because the fewer
trees there are, the more carbon dioxide gets into the
atmosphere.

Effect
The average temperature on Earth has been steadily rising since
the mid-1980s, and global warming is expected to continue this
trend. In addition to longer and hotter summers, rising
temperatures will affect agriculture. Indeed, the effect of a hotter
Earth is already increasing the transmission of infectious bacteria
that thrive under warm conditions.
The effects of global warming are potentially far-ranging.
Increased temperatures means melting of glaciers, ice and snow
around the poles, which means an increase in sea levels.
Warming water will also increase the potential for hurricanes and
typhoons
