MINUTES OF MEETING

BURGO’S SHED
MONDAY 14TH DECEMBER 2009

PRESENT: Pete Auty, Judy Baker, Julie Bateman, John Burgess, Annie Robertson, Ric
Stubbings

APOLOGIES:
None

1. FRC very pleased with last Monday evening’s meeting with Betsy, Darell, Jane,
Jane, Sara, Michelle, Leanne & Kim. We feel we have engaged well with the
various government bodies and that they are keen to engage with us.
2. Combination DSE CFA site: Pete Williams, John Burgess & Pete Auty are
working on some improvements to the site as requested by Bill Shorten at
Government House in November.
3. Re project management & program management. Betsy to appoint a Program
Manager and the FRC is in a position to offer VBRRA some solutions to project &
program management issues.
4. Pete, Pete & John went to Flowerdale Estate speaking for an hour on the fires
and our recovery. This was followed by 20 minutes of question & answer. The
audience was NAB Wholesale employees.
5. Outstanding items: Julie:
a. Julie presented an email from volunteer Julie Whittaker-Smith.
b. Julie explained the claim for reimbursement forms. With this Julie also
outlined her expenses including Telstra Bills, Postage & Stationery equaling
$1990.44 + $98.21 + $55.00 respectively, from September – December.
MOTION: “That the FRC immediately accepts Juile’s claim for reimbursement
(dockets tabled)” Moved by John Burgess. Seconded by Pete Auty. Motion
carried.
6. Outstanding items: Judy:
a. Information from Fire Ready meeting and Weekly Times article due to be
provided by Maryanne. Judy will follow up this by Sunday.
b. Would Region subsidise the printing of the Safety Plan and did they have
anything in place for Phone Trees for this summer. Judy will address this
with the relevant people by Sunday.
c. Judy tabled letter from Ben Hardman re the Flowerdale/Hazeldene Postcode
issue.
7. Ric: Flowerdale Trust:
Meeting was held last Tues night with Members of Trust. Need to get legal
advice and form an unincorporated committee. Need to have appropriate
forms prepared so Ric can sign cheques. To date $68000 with $21000 from
Hume & Hovel function yet to be distributed. Re Sharon Collins request for
accessing Arts Grant money. FRC are negotiating this with VBRRA.
8. Outstanding items: Ric:
• Still needs to contact Ariel re sculpture and the completion of the new
Community House.
• Still needs to sign off accounts.
1. Pete:
• Meeting tomorrow with the Commemorative & Memorial Committee @
Yea.
• Invited to business Network Meeting in Marysville tomorrow evening with
Pete & Ric to attend.
• Darrell Taylor has emailed re funding agricultural projects.
• Chemical still available. Blackberry Bash continues and Pete in process of
mapping areas which have been sprayed and will be completed within 1
week.
• Catchment Management funding for Land Care issues is a work in
progress.
• Community Garden application for funding plus plan and budget has been
presented to VBRRA.
• Ross Davis & Pete have put in application for funding for a propagation
area in the school – no word back yet.
• Pete exploring a long term plan to develop a commercial scale, community
run organic gardening industry within the Flowerdale Valley, and are
looking at various options for funding.
1. Outstanding items: John:
• FRC are yet to write to the Water Authority, re: seeking their assistance re:
Community concerns and issues around the King Parrot Creek. Judy spoke
that she had written a personal letter to the Authority.
1. Next Meeting: Sunday 20th December 1.00pm @ Burgo’s.
2. Looking Forward for 2010. The FRC’s visions & aspirations:
• To see projects rolled out,
• To see things happening on the ground,
• To see disbursements of moneys done correctly.
• To develop from our existing base, more stronger relationships with
Government.
• Would like fortnightly meetings which include all the Government and non-
Government agencies. (Federal, State, and local)
• Want to look at the global environment of Flowerdale including economic,
human and natural, building a foundation for the future.

• Judy wants to rejoin Junior CFA
• To see the work engines totally engaged for the project in hand and beyond.
1. Last Section 86 meeting talked about the phasing out of the dongas. FRC
believes that 10 of the chalets may be owned by Flowerdale (from Fleetwood).
2. First Meeting for 2010: 18th January.
3. What is our mindset for 2010? Each FRC member will have 10 minutes to
present their “personal wheel barrow (or bucket, if your name is Ric) of
thoughts” for 2010. Each FRC member to bring a gift which we think represents
what the FRC did and how it worked in 2009. Each present to be gift wrapped.
4. Sunday is Fun Day for the FRC. BYO partners.
