Dear Friends,
I welcome you all to the new academic session of Summer 2012 on behalf of Skyline
University College and on my own behalf. One of the subjects for which we shall be together during
this spring semester is CIS 402 i.e. Information Systems Project Management
I have attached herewith the course details and it would be nice if you go through it very
carefully. I am looking forward for a mutually satisfying association in this semester on professional
perspective. This course enhances capacities of the students on project management techniques. The
students will understand the various underlying concepts of project management such as managing
projects within the specific scope, time, cost and quality. The phases of the project are studied:
identification of the need or problem, development of the proposed solution, and implementation of
the solution.
Students will learn to develop work break down structures, network diagram, and to
identify critical path. Further, this course will help the students to understand the important aspects
that ensure the Information Technology project is completed within the approved budget and the
processes required to ensuring the project will satisfy the need for which it was undertaken.
Upon successful completion of this course, I am confident that you will be benefited in

COURSE INTRODUCTION
This course emphasizes managing projects within the specific scope, time, cost and quality.
The different phases of the project are to be taught to the students in this course. These include
identification of the need or problem, development of the proposed solution, and implementation
of the solution. Students will be taught to use software for managing projects. Hence, students will
learn to develop work break down structures, network diagram, and to identify critical path.
Further, students will be able to understand certain the important aspects that ensure that the
Information Technology project is completed within the approved budget. Also students will be
taught to understand the processes that are required to ensure that the project will satisfy the need
for which it was undertaken. Lab exercises with various project management techniques through
the software Microsoft Project Professional is also the part of this course

Allocation of assessment tools and their weightage have been based on following criteria:
Continuous Assessment and Mid-Term Examination cover 70% weight age of the
overall assessment and both of this assessment tools aim at evaluating the students
conceptual and operational knowledge of the subject learned at different phases of the
module.
One assignment of 15% weightage aimed at providing an opportunity to students to
apply their theoretical knowledge and skills of managing in real organizational settings
on the basis of key inputs obtained from net based sources and from their personal
contacts.
Two Quizzes with 10% weightage each aim at assessing the depth of understanding
managerial issues related to different components of the module.
Attendance and class participation with 15% weightage (10% to Class participation
and 5% to Attendance) is to check the students continuous involvement and interest
in class room discussions.
Class Participation includes Class Test/Discussions etc.
