1.0 INTRODUCTION
PROBLEM STATEMENT
As standard for most cars in this era, windscreen wipers are must for cars. Created in
1903 by Mary Anderson, it was engineering breakthrough that shapes the cars today.
However, like many great inventions, it has certain flaws and may lead to fatal incidents.
This is because the conventional windshield wipers did not clear the whole windscreen
effectively. The problem mostly caused by the blades of the wipers. The blades will
deteriorate after a long time. Moreover, the rubber of the blades will streak if it exposed
too long to heat. This happened when drivers park their car exposed to the sun rays on
very hot days. This caused the rubber to harden and become brittle. It was not going to
be realized by the drivers until they drive in heavy rain situation. In fact, the hard rubber
blade produces squeaky sound when deployed. Worse, the rubber might split into two
and become useless at all.
Based on recent research made by Kwik Fit company, they discovered that 20% of the
British motorists surveyed are potentially at risk of having a car accident due to poor
visibility through their windscreen.
According to the findings,
56% of drivers do not check and maintain their windscreen wipers.
As a result, 16% of those have poorly functional wiper blades that leave behind
smears on the windscreen, making it more difficult to see the road ahead.
Another 3% of the subjects claimed that their wipers did not clear water off the
front window effectively.
1% of them states that their wipers leaves scratch marks on the screen as it carries
debris from the vehicle ahead.

OBJECTIVE

In this project, we have dedicated ourselves to come up with our own

revolutionary windscreen air blower which replace the conventional rubber
windscreen wipers. We brainstormed on how we can equip the powerful air
blowers in the limited area of a car where we need a compressor to create strong
wind. Among the identified main objectives for this project are;

This invention reduces the car accidents due to the poor visibility especially
during a rainy day.
This invention reduces the maintenance cost of replacing conventional
windscreen wipers. In a busy lifestyle, many would neglect to replace the
windscreen wipers as its not frequently used, especially in hot seasoned
countries.
Does not create any unusual noise or sound due to the friction as how the
conventional windscreen wipers produces noise caused by rubbing
between the windscreen and rubbers.
This invention enhances the performance of the car by not opposing the law
of aerodynamics. Windscreen wipers pulls off the motion of the air drag
towards opposite side. This invention would help sports car companies to
achieve better car performance.
This prototype blows hot air off too. This is to make the water disappear fast
by evaporating it. It can also be used to clear foggy windscreen.
