DESCRIPTIVE TEST - I

Branch : ME-B
Class : I B.Tech
Date
: 10.12.2011 AN
Instructions before you write exam

A.Y: 2011-12

Subject : Engg.Drawing
Marks : 10 marks
Time : 60 mins.

1. Do the proper dimensioning while you are drawing the diagrams.

2. Differentiate the thick and thin lines while you are drawing the diagrams.
3. Before drawing the diagrams do proper planning of the sheet.
4. Mention the arrow heads neatly the dimensional lines.

Answer any FOUR of the following questions

4x21/2=10

1).On

a map, the distance between two points is 14 cm. The real distance between them is
20 Km. Draw a Diagonal scale of this map to read kilometers, hectometers and
decameters, and to measure upto 25 Km. Show a distance of 17.65 Km On this scale.
2).The asymptotes of a hyperbola are inclined at 50 to each other. A point on the curve is
at the intersection of two lines parallel to the asymptotes and 40 mm away from them.
Draw the hyperbola.
3).Inscribe an ellipse in a parallelogram having sides 200 mm and 100 mm long and an
included angle of 120 degrees.
4).Draw an involute of a circle of 75 mm diameter. Also draw a normal and a tangent at a
distance of 100 mm from the centre of the circle.
5).Draw an epicycloids generated by a rolling circle of 60 mm diameter for one complete
revolution. The radius of the directing circle is 100 mm. Draw a tangent and a normal to
it at 150 mm from the centre of the directing circle.
6).Two points A and B are in the H.P. The point A is 30mm infront of the V.P., while B is
behind the V.P. The distance between their projectors is 75mm and the line joining their
top views makes an angle of 45 degrees with xy. Find the distance of the point B from the
V.P
(OR)
Draw the projections of the following points on the same ground line, keeping the
projectors 20mm apart.
(a) Point A, in the V.P. and 40mm above the H.P.
(b) Point B, 25mm below the H.P. and 25mm behind the V.P.
(c) Point C, 15mm above the H.P. and 50mm behind the V.P.
(d) Point D, 40mm below the H.P. and 25mm infront of the V.P.
