Pete Rose, former Cincinnati Reds player and manager, and sports columnist Paul Daugherty
present Winning is Everything: The Hit King Talks Ethics in Sport in the first event of the 2015-2016
Miami University Lecture Series at 7:30 p.m., Monday, Sept. 21, at Hall Auditorium.
Their talk will cover Roses career in baseball, gambling controversy and ethical matters.

Tickets will be available starting at 8 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16, for the Miami community and
Friday, Sept. 18, for the general public, if tickets remain.

Rose holds Major League Baseball records for the most hits (4,256), games played (3,562) and atbats (14,053). He earned three World Series rings, three batting titles and 17 All-Star appearances.

However, he agreed to permanent ineligibility from baseball in 1989 after accusations surfaced
alleging that he gambled on baseball games during his time as a manager.
Paul Daugherty has spent the last 27 years as a sports writer, with the last 21 as a columnist at The
Cincinnati Enquirer. Throughout his career, he has covered several Olympic games, Super Bowls,
World Series and U.S. Open and Masters golf tournaments. His writing has earned him first place
awards from Associated Press Sports Editors.

All University Lecture Series events take place on Monday evenings at 7:30 p.m. in Hall
Auditoriumon Miami University's Oxford campus.
Tickets are available to Miami University ID holders (students, faculty, staff) at8 a.m. on the
Wednesdayprior to theMondayevening lecture, with a limit of two tickets maximum per Miami ID.
Miami ID holders may request ticketsin personat the Shriver Center box office orby phone at513529-3200for later pickup at the Shriver box office or at Hall Auditorium on the evening of the
eventat 6:30 p.m.
Tickets for the general public, if remaining, are available at 8 a.m. on theFridayprior to the Monday
eveninglecture, with a limit of two per request, eitherin personorby phoneas above.
Individuals without tickets may arrive at6:30 p.m.at Hall Auditorium and wait in line for available
unfilled seats. Any seats not filled by 7:20 p.m. will be given to those in line. A question and answer
session will follow each lecture, as well as a reception.
