Pleven Chamber of Commerce completes a project under Cross Border Cooperation Programme Romania-Bulgaria 2007-2013, which supports the border areas in both countries to
resolve common problems of development through cooperation and joint actions. Through this
program, institutions, companies, organizations and citizens from cross-border area are encouraged to develop joint planning, to carry out joint actions to improve access to the border
and thus to improve living conditions, work and leisure.
The project is "PROmotion of TOURism through flexible business support"
The project was developed in order to contribute to the introduction of innovative solutions
and models for long-term sustainability of the local economy and tourism in particular. The
project partners share the view that the development of local businesses in this sector will
contribute to improving social and economic status of the local population and strengthen the
comparative advantages of the region as a whole, taking into account the natural, cultural,
ethnic and economic characteristics of the border region.
The project is aimed at:

Implementation of innovative solutions and development of models for sustainable economic development;

Improving the social and economic status of the local population and strengthen the
competitive advantages of the region;

To define the needs for training and consulting and adapt the offer such services.

Activities through which were achieved the project objectives:

Research and analysis of the local environment;

Created database of operators in tourism sector;

Created website for tourism promotion;

Local tourist guide;

Organized promotion trips for journalists, archaeologists, historians, scientists and citizens;

Through flexible forms of training in the field of tourism are trained persons, who have
worked or wishing is to begin work in tourism or intending to start own business in this
field;

Consultancy activities in the field of orientation at the workplace and encouraging entrepreneurship.

Achieved results:
Study of the tourism sector; Enhanced competences of the local operators and disadvantaged
groups; Web-based database of tour operators; Improved business contacts; Increased popularity of the region; Increased attractiveness of the local tourism sector.
Target groups:
Economic operators in field of tourism, disadvantaged groups willing to join the tourism labor
market.
