1. Scope:
This method instruction is applicable for all projects where Mechanical, Electrical,
Plumbing, Fire alarm and Fire fighting works are specified.

Submit the following shop drawings for Electrical, Water supply & Drainage,
Fire alarm, Fire fighting and Air-conditioning works to the Consultants and obtain
approval.
a) Builders work drawings
b) Detailed shopdrawings
c) Co-ordinated drawings for all services

Procurement / Fabrication
Obtain approval for long lead items such as Chillers, AHU's, Generators,
Electrical DBs, Sanitary fittings & fixtures and other equipments on priority basis
and place order.
Air-conditioning ducts including insulation shall be manufactured in factory in secure
and workmanlike manner and shall be delivered to the site ready for erection.
Installation - MEP First Fix
Conduiting and cutouts, which are required in the concrete structure as per builders
work drawings shall be provided, when the reinforcement steel work is in progress.

The layout, level and sizes of conduits and cutouts should be checked before
concreting and the same to be maintained during concreting.

Provide cutouts/sleeves during construction of blockwork as per builders work


drawings.

3.7

Marking shall be done in the completed blockwall for conduiting, switch boxes,
pipes and other concealed items and the marked areas shall be chased to the
required depth.

Fix the conduits, switch boxes, pipes and other concealed items and carryout
pressure test for piping.

MEP Second Fix


The following works shall be started in areas where deshuttering or blockwork is
completed and shall be coordinated with false ceiling level.
a) Water supply / Chilled water / Drainage / Fire Fighting - Piping
b) Air-conditioning Ducting & Plenum fixing
c) Fixing of Equipments above false ceiling

3.10 The above works shall be completed and tested * before false ceiling or floor finish
commences and obtain the Consultant's approval for mock up room, if any and
proceed.

3.11 Conduct "TOOL BOX TALK" before commencing the activity.

3.12 Piping and Ducting works shall be executed in the shafts when the area is ready.
3.13 The gap in cut-outs/sleeves shall be grouted and all unwanted cut-outs shall be
closed with cement concrete.
3.14 Electrical wiring shall be done after first coat paint is completed and DBs shall be
fixed and final connection shall be done in the Electrical Rooms.
3.15 Plinths required for equipments in roof and other floors shall be cast as per
builders work drawings and the equipments shall be installed before commissioning.
MEP Final Fix
3.16 AC diffusers / grills shall be fixed along with false ceiling or after first coat paint,
wherever applicable.
3.17 Sanitary fittings shall be fixed in areas where floor finish and doors are completed.
3.18 Electrical switches, light fittings, control units and sprinkler heads shall be fixed
before final painting.
3.19 All components shall be temporarily protected from mechanical damage, plaster,
paint etc. Adhesive tape, plastic film and suitable protective lacquers, which can

be removed without trace, must be applied and the same should be removed
upon completion.
3.20 Carryout commissioning ** of MEP works and obtain Consultant's approval.
3.21 In bath room walls, concealed water pipe lines shall be clearly marked over
plastering & thereafter over wall tiles in order to prevent puncturing of water pipe
lines while fixing of Vanity Counter, Mirror, etc., by other Sub-contractors.

3.22 Floor Drain outlet surrounding shall be grouted with only " Non-shrink Grout" & the
waterproofing to be carried out upto the grating's socket.

January 2001.
3.23 The inlet & outlet pipes of the pumps shall be fixed in such a way that they do not
come in direct contact with the wall & floor to avoid vibration transferred to wall &
floor. Proper Inertia Bases / Floating Slab shall be provided for Pumps & Chillers.
Noise levels should be measured, recorded and handed over to the Consultants /
the Client before or at the time of handing over of the project.
