A Report
A One Day State Level Seminar On Cooperative Enterprises For Social Upliftment
was organized on 30th march 2015 at the premises of Institute Of Cooperative
Management, Lamphelpat, Imphal West, Manipur. The seminar was organized by
Institute Of Cooperative Management, Lamphelpat to discuss about the role of
cooperative enterprises and their importance in carving a roadmap for an all
inclusive social upliftment. Altogether, approximately 110 (One hundred and Ten)
members including the officials attended the programme.
Km. A.K. Mirabai, Honorable Minister, Cooperation and Social Welfare, Manipur
inaugurated the programme as Chief Guest, Shri. Moses Chalai, Principal Secretary
Cooperation, Manipur as Guest of Honor, Shri. L. Tompishak, Chairman,
Management Committee, ICM, Imphal presided over the inaugural session. Pamei
At the very outset, Shri. K. Joychandra Singh, Director (I/C) ICM Imphal, warmly
welcomed the esteemed guests, the paper presenters and the delegates and
presented the welcome address and the key-note speech.
Km. A.K. Mirabai, Honorable Minister, Cooperation and Social Welfare, said about the
importance of cooperative enterprises and their impending role in our society. She
also suggested that we start to emphasise on developing the spirit of
entrepreneurship whilst integrating a cooperative model. She also requested all the
players and institutions on cooperatively working together to reach the goals.
Shri. Moses Chalai, in his guest-of-honor speech, said that most

7. Shri. M. Biren Singh, Faculty Member, ICM Imphal Status of Cooperative in
Manipur An Analysis.
Shri. N. Amulkumar, Faculty Member, ICM Imphal, Programme Coordinator of the
State Level Seminar, provided the Vote-of-Thanks of the session. He extended his
heartfelt gratitude and thanks to Km. A.K. Mirabai, Honorable Minister, Cooperation
and Social Welfare, Manipur, Guest-of-Honor, Shri. Moses Chalai, Principal Secretary

Recommendation:
1. To motivate and establish new cooperative enterprises that have significant
employment generation potential.
2. To infuse management principles into cooperative enterprises to create
efficient and an effective enterprises.
3. To initiate a change in the attitude of the people and initiate a peoples
movement towards economic independence via cooperative enterprises.
4. To direct the attention of states policy makers towards improving the
programmes and policies of the cooperative enterprises.
5. To emphasise in the role of PACS and improving their operational
effectiveness of financial inclusion.
