introduction
description
The SFT 2801 application is a software tool that may be used instead of
the "TSM 2001 pocket terminal" under Windows 95, 98 and NT 4.0.
Furthermore, the SFT 2801 application provides additional functions for
reading, printing and storage of Sepam 2000 parameters and for
retrieving disturbance records.
It is installed on a PC connected to the front of Sepam 2000 via an
adapter.
functions
All the TSM 2001 pocket terminal functions are included in the SFT
2801 application.
The functions used to read and set the various Sepam 2000 parameters
(measurements, protections, etc.) in the software version of TSM 2001
are similar to the pocket terminal functions (dialog via menus and submenus; cf manual ref. 3140750).
The following additional functions are made available by the software
version :
general readout of Sepam 2000 characteristics.
saving and restoring of all Sepam 2000 characteristics.
printing of a report containing the values of all the Sepam 2000
characteristics.
retrieval of a disturbance record
saving of a disturbance record
required set-up

connection
The interface should be plugged into the inlet on the front of Sepam
2000, behind the small flap door. The other end is connected to the
COM1 or COM2 communication port (whichever was selected at the
time of installation) on the PC.
front of Sepam
It is mandatory for the ACE 900 connection kit supplied in SFT 2801
kit to be used to connect the PC and Sepam 2000.
The use of any other cord is liable to cause Sepam 2000 operating
difficulties.

design
The SFT 2801 application is materialized in Windows by a graphical
interface (window) representing the TSM 2001 pocket terminal.
A
A the title bar displays the name of the application: "SFT 2801"
followed by identification of the Sepam when a Sepam is connected
to the PC.
B the menu bar gives access to the SFT 2801 special features
C the display field may be one of two types :
an SFT 2801 information screen
an TSM 2001 type screen, with four 20-character lines.
D control buttons which match the TSM 2001 pocket terminal
keyboard keys
display zone
The software version display is the same as the TSM 2001 pocket
terminal display: four 20-character lines. The same blinking also occurs.
The cursor at the beginning of a line is indicated by a blinking ">"
character.

scanning Sepam
As of the time that communication is initialized, SFT 2801 continually
scans the link with the Sepam connected to the PC on which the
application is running.
If the Sepam connection is down (connection cord damaged or Sepam
disconnected or not energized...), SFT 2801 detects interrupted dialog
and displays :
The graphical interface is inactive until the user validates the message
window by clicking on the "OK" button. Communication must then be
initialized again.

reading characteristics
view
If the characteristics reading operation is successfully completed, a full
screen size characteristics display window appears.
A slider bar (scroll bar) located on the right-hand side of the display field
may be used to scroll its contents vertically.
The window also includes 3 control buttons :
record
To save the characteristics that have been read, click on the "Record"
control button.
A dialog box is then displayed. This box is used to choose a name to
identify the characteristics that will be saved.
The name of the Sepam being examined is proposed (the name appears
in the title bar of the main screen and the characteristics display
window).
When several Sepams have the same name (as in the case of the
standard applicationsof the Sepam 2000 catalogue), it is necessary to
modify the proposed name to record and save the characteristics of the
Sepams which have the same name.
3 141 951 A - D

Once the user has confirmed the name to be used for the save, the text
of the displayed characteristics is stored on the PC disk and may be
retrieved for subsequent printing or saving operations.
If several storage operations are carried out for the same Sepam, only
the most recent one is kept. The date of storage of the characteristics
is memorized.
The data structure used is a text file, the contents of which are an exact
replica of the text displayed in the display window (cf example in
Appendix 2).
The name given for the stored data will appear on the first page of the
printout of characteristics under the heading "Sepam Name". The actual
name of the Sepam application is given in the "Identification" section by
the text located under the name "SFT 2800".
