Dear Colleagues,

As you may already know, we have reached tentative agreement with the UAW on a new national
contract.
I believe this agreement, which still requires UAW member ratification, is a transformational deal because
it guarantees that our workers will share equitably in the success we are able to generate working
together while ensuring that our company will be able to remain competitive.
This new contract represents a major step forward in enabling greater and more direct involvement of our
workers in the achievement of the strategic objectives of FCA and recognizes the central role that you all
play in building our common future. Without you and your commitment, our plan is simply unachievable.
We all know that improvements in operating efficiency (WCM) and achievement of the financial targets,
which reflect our global ambitions as a car maker, depend on the full commitment of our workforce. As
such, they should receive substantial economic benefits from the achievement of these objectives.
I believe this compensation plan is the right way to reward workers for the current and potential future
success of the Group while retaining the ability to control costs during a downturn so that we will be able
to maintain an investment level necessary for long-range competitiveness.
If the final plan targets are met, and I am confident they will be, workers will receive significant economic
benefits tied directly to their commitment.
Another important feature of the contract is establishment of a pathway to higher wages for workers hired
under the two-tier pay structure, helping ensure that all those who work hard will be rewarded
commensurate with others doing the same or similar jobs.
In addition, we have agreed to adopt a comprehensive approach to address rising medical costs. We will
partner with the UAW Health Care Development Co-op to explore innovative ways of improving the
delivery of health-care benefits in a manner that increases quality, lowers costs and provides better
patient care.
With the new compensation scheme and other groundbreaking features, I believe the agreement
reaffirms that we are working together for the same goals and that the fundamental contributions made by
all workers will be recognized.
Our comeback from a near-death experience, the incredible progress we have made so far, and our
emergence as a global player in the auto industry are the result of steadfast commitment coming from
every part of our house, represented and non-represented. The new contract paves the way for us to
continue on the remarkable journey we have set out upon.
The experience of working together for a common objective has created a sense of mutual respect that
ultimately enabled negotiators on both sides to reach a mutually beneficial agreement.
I want to express my respect of the UAW bargaining team for its proactive and constructive approach in
representing its members while recognizing the importance of achieving FCAs industrial objectives.
Negotiations are never easy when two parties need to address so many issues that affect so many
people. The fact that we were able to reach a consensus is a result of both sides being able to envision a
shared future, one which we will be proud to leave for the generations that come after us.
