Kolbe Index Types
Instinctive behavioral patterns govern the actions, reactions and interactions of each individual.
They also determine how an individual will use his or her time and communicate. Understanding
and exercising control over these instincts offers one the freedom to be functionally authentic in
his or her job role.

It is difficult to locate good candidates, and the hiring process requires a significant investment.
Discovering later that a new hire doesn’t fit and must be let go wastes time, money and resources.
The Kolbe hiring process has an 82% success rate in getting the right person for the right job. The
Kolbe system offers several indices from which a firm can choose to implement depending on de-
sired results. Descriptions of these are below.

The Kolbe A Index


The Kolbe A Index measures a person’s instinctive method of operation (MO), and identifies the
ways he or she will be most productive. It need only be taken once, since these innate abilities do
not change over time.

The Kolbe B Index


The Kolbe B Index measures an individual’s expectations of how he or she should perform in a
current job. Comparing a Kolbe B Index result with an A Index result yields insights into how to
leverage instinctive talents at work.

The Kolbe C Index


The Kolbe C Index measure the necessary characteristics for a job candidate to be successful in a
specific job role. It gathers this information by assessing your team member’s opinion about what
actions anyone hire for this role will be reward.
