Pack Gives Back

Athletic Adventures

The basketball teams at North Paulding High School spent the first part of this
week giving back by helping Burnt Hickory Elementary School spread new mulch
on their playground. Coach Dyer and Coach Green feel that is important to have
their players and programs give back to the community that supports them. Great
job Wolfpack!

One of the most important keys to success is having the discipline to do

what you know you should and need to do, even when you do not feel like
doing it Unknown

Where is sugar hiding?

Now that school is back in session, its a great time to
take a closer look at what's inside your lunch box.
Reducing sugar intake is a top priority for preventing
obesity, giving us the best brain foods, and helping to
stay healthy, but it requires more than just limiting
cookies and candy. Thats because sugar is a sneaky
devil lurking in alarmingly high amounts in foods
that seem healthy at first glace:
*Yogurt: While this tasty food can be nutritious, most
of it has transitioned into dessert territory, with some
flavored yogurts containing upwards of 30 grams of
sugar per serving! Stick with plain yogurt and add
fruit or nuts. Or go Greek: This thick, creamy yogurt
has about half the sugar of the ordinary type, and
double the protein. Try it with tomatoes and cucumbers for an unforgettably delicious meal.
*Snack bars: These imposters go by many names
granola bars, energy bars, and snack bars. Most are
loaded with added sugar. Instead, pack nuts, seeds
and dried (no-sugar-added) fruit.
*Chewy fruit snacks: Fruit in name only, these packaged snacks are nutritionally bankrupt and loaded
with added sugar. Instead, pack the real, nutrient-rich
deal a banana, an apple, a tangerine or berries.
