Practice Task 2-C1 Class

Writing Task 1:
Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing to apply for a workingthe position as a caterer at the international
kite festival, which was advertised on the Saigon Times Weekly last Monday.
Currently I am studying at Binh Duong University. I major in English Language
Teaching. I would like to serve at the festival just because I am very keen on
flying kites, which I have donewould do a lot since I was a little kid. Last year I
worked part-time as a waiter at a big restaurant; therefore, I strongly believe
that I can introduce food and drinks to foreign visitors to this festival. Moreover,
this would be a good opportunity for me to improve my listening and speaking
skills.
It is summer time now; therefore, I am available for interview at any timeyour
convenience.
I look forward to meeting you.
Yours faithfully,
Phuc Nguyen

Writing Task 2
Nowadays the roles of teachers and the roles of students have
dramatically changed. Many people still think that students should not be
allowed to evaluate their teachers because they fear that this will bring about
some harmful and negative effects to both teachers and students. However, in
from my point of view, I believe that the evaluation of this kind has more
advantages than disadvantages.
First of all, by asking students to evaluate their teachers, the schools
managing board would know how the process of teaching and learning is going
on. Thanks to this, new measures or methods may be made just in time in order
to make the teaching-learning process more efficient. No teacher is always
right and sometimes teachers do not realize some mistakes they made. For
instance, when I was in secondary school, the word industry was pronounced
with its stress on the second syllable. Many generations of students would
repeat the same things if such mistakes werent correcte d. In short, the
evaluation can help teachers realize what needs improving and what
adjustments should be made.
Moreover, we all agree that teaching must be an interactive and studentcentred process. Teachers expect their students to listen to what they explain
and instruct; however, teachers should hear from their students. We who do the
teaching job will fail if we do think our roles dominate our students. Students
have the rights to express their opinions. In other words, the evaluation would
probably play an important role in stimulating students creativity. They may
feel that they are treated equally. The sense of equals would encourage them to
participate in the process more actively. In one word, students opinions should
be appreciated.
In conclusion, evaluating the teachers is one of the best ways which can
help the teaching-learning process get its target. They should know how
important their own roles and the others are. Last but not least, it must be the
schools duty to guide students and decide what should be evaluated, so that
teachers would not have any prejudice against those who give opinions on
them.
