The Ahmedabad real estate market has remained

stableoverthelastfewmonths.However,expertssee
animprovementhappeninginnearfutureasthecity
undergoesamajorchangeintermsofinfrastructure
and residential projects. Both residential and
commercial sectors are expected to grow with the
executionoftheseprojects.

Some major infrastructure projects which were

recently completed include Info City in
Gandhinagar,BusRapidTransitSystem(BRTS)and
Outer Ring Road (ORR) project. Realty market in localities towards
KankariaandVadajhavealreadywitnessedahighduetotheBRTSand
withitsexpansion,asimilarboomisexpectedinotherlocalitiessuchas
Bopal, Naroda and Gurukul, says Prakash M Notani of

The ORR too has largely affected the realty market in areas such as
Gandhinagar, Bopal, Ranip and Shilaj. With improved connectivity through ORR, these areas are
witnessing larger residential demand and thus commanding higher prices. Also, the new Growth
andDevelopmentControlRegulation(GDCR)willworktowardsdevelopingtheORRstretchasan
affordablehousinghubinAhmedabad,informsNotani.
Other projects in the pipeline include the metro rail, the Sabarmati River Front and the Gujarat
InternationalFinanceTecCity(GIFTCity).Thefirstrouteofthemetrorailhasbeenfinalizedandis
most likely to benefit localities around the Sarkhej Gandhinagar (SG) Highway. However, it will be
longbeforetheprojectbecomesoperational.
On the other hand, The GIFT city, a special economic zone (SEZ) will be developed as a financial
hub. With its completion, increased employment opportunities are expected to bring an economic
boon as well as a huge demand for residential properties in and around Gandhinagar. The
Sabarmati river front project too aims towards enhancing the economic activity in the city by
restoringtheSabarmatiRiverandpromotingitasatouristdestination,addsNotani.
Apart from the infrastructural projects, several new housing and commercial projects are slated to
happeninthecomingyears.Withtheallnewdevelopmentshappening,thecityisdefinitelygoingto
witnessaseachangeandwillcomeoutofitsimageofaninactivemarket.
