Dear Hiring Manager:

Thank you for your time in letting me know about the summer internship opportunity. My
name is Yazid Amrani. I will be graduating in May 2017 with a Bachelors of Science in
Mechanical Engineering.
I have been studying as a full-time student-athlete in West Virginia University Institute of
Technology for the past two years. This has helped me to grow as a man and has helped me to
become a responsible, organized and a self-motivated person. Being an engineering student
helped be become creative, dedicated, and hard working.
I would like to clearly mention that an opportunity such as this of working in the airport traffic
control tower of Ibn Battouta Airport shall not be taken in lightly. I will apply my considerable
skills and positive attitude to work performance for your organization. As a student-athlete and a
member of WVU Tech mens soccer team, one of my main strengths is the ability to work in
teams really well. Also having an international background, I have a strong ability in
understanding a multitude of different cultural practices, as well as making noted contributions to
the team. I am also a very optimistic and never tend to give up on any assignment. I have
outstanding communication, and decision-making skills which I feel is very important in the
mechanical engineering world.
Since I have barely any experience in airport functions I will be mainly trying to apply all the
new things I will be introduced to in this internship. I have already started research concerning air
traffic control here in the United States and I am still waiting for an opportunity to go visit and
talk to certain crew members of the Airport traffic control tower in Yeager Airport of Charleston,
West Virginia. If I ever get the opportunity to meet with them I will make sure I document
everything and maybe incorporate some of the technological breakthroughs used in United States
airports. One of the future milestones is the ability of a pilot to change the trajectory in mid-flight.
This project is known as free-flight It will eliminate the need of Air Traffic Control operators
since this new technology will be integrated in every airplane. This technology will allow an
aircraft to fly more directly to its destination, which for European journeys alone would knock
ten minutes off average flight times, thus saving fuel and reducing carbon-dioxide emissions.
One might argue that if the pilot is in control the risk of an aircraft collision will be more likely
however the technology will enable aircraft to aircraft communication and if there was ever a
trajectory change it will be displayed by this technology that operates twenty-five minutes in
advance.
