(EN)A shock absorbing fork for a bicycle or other vehicle having
a pair of telescoping struts (3), with upper tubes (4) which are
interconnected by an upper crown (5) to a steerer tube (7) at an
upper end portion thereof and lower tubes (8) which mount a
wheel axle at their bottom end. Within at least one of the
telescoping struts, a spring arrangement and/or a hydraulic
damping arrangement (S) is provided which is acted upon as
the upper tube and the lower tube move toward each other for
absorbing impact shocks experienced by the wheel of the
bicycle. For shock absorbing forks in which no hydraulic
damping arrangement is provided or it is contained within a
separate cylinder or cartridge which isolates its hydraulic damping fluid from walls of the telescoping
tubes, so that damping fluid cannot be used as a source of lubricant for the telescoping tubes,
according to the invention, a predetermined free quality of liquid lubricant (18) is provided in the
bottom of the lower tube in a volume that is small enough so as to not be directly acted upon by the
upper tube even during maximum (inward) compressive telescoping of the strut, but which is sufficient
to migrate along the length of the lower tube without being directly acted upon by the reciprocating
motion of the tubes relative to each other.
(FR)L'invention porte sur une fourche amortissante pour bicyclette ou autre vhicule prsentant une
paire de bras tlescopiques (3) comportant: des tubes suprieurs (4) relis par leur extrmit
suprieure par une barre de liaison (5) l'axe du guidon (7), et des tubes infrieurs (8) l'extrmit
infrieure desquels se monte l'axe de la roue. L'un au moins des bras tlescopiques contient un
systme de ressorts et/ou un systme d'amortissement hydraulique (S) agissant lorsque le tube
suprieur et le tube infrieur se rapprochent l'un de l'autre pour absorber les chocs des coups subis
par la roue de la bicyclette. Pour les fourches amortissante non pourvues d'un systme
d'amortissement hydraulique, ou en possdant un plac dans un cylindre ou une cartouche spare,
ce qui isole le liquide hydraulique d'amortissement des parois des tubes tlescopiques et empche
ledit liquide de servir de source de lubrifiant pour les tubes tlescopiques, l'invention prvoit de placer
une quantit libre donne de lubrifiant liquide (18) la base du tube infrieur, d'un volume
suffisamment petit pour ne pas tre directement touch par le tube suprieur, mme en cas de
compression tlescopique maximale (vers l'intrieur) du bras, mais suffisant pour migrer le long du
tube infrieur sans tre directement actionn par les mouvements alternatifs des tubes l'un par
rapport l'autre.
