Londons Global Art Prize

2015

Foreword
Since its launch in 2012 and the successful conclusion of its first two
cycles in 2013 and 2014, ArtGemini Prize has widened its constituency,
reaching out to artists from an astoundingly rich variety of disciplines
across the world. This years innovation is the Selfie, with a heartening
and inspiring response.
An added boost to ArtGemini Prize this year is the featuring of a
selection of the Prize entries in the Affordable Art Fair, Singapore,
which attracts a highly diverse array of collectors and is a prestigious
coming together of international artists in a cultural hub of exceptional
repute.
Any new art prize could not have wished for a more satisfying start
than the reception accorded ArtGeminis launch cycle in 2013 and the
second cycle in 2014. This years entries demonstrate that encouraging
trend as well as a growing response from the European and particularly
UK graduates. Artists working in an impressive diversity of genres and
styles have competed through these three years for international
recognition, making the most of the platform offered by ArtGemini
Prize.
The extraordinarily inclusive appeal of ArtGemini Prize continues to
draw international artists which, as before, has been apparent in new
entries.
As ArtGemini Prize moves into the next cycle it remains steadfast in
pursuing its stated mission of helping artists achieve those goals
irrespective of geographical boundaries.

Chair, Selection Committee

Preface

Returning to the latest cycle of ArtGemini Prize, its third since its highly popular launch in 2013, it gives me great pleasure to present the new range of
works by artists who are taking part in this years competition.

As before, the diversity and range of talent on display in submissions for the
2015 cycle is both gratifying and inspiring, reinforcing the confidence and faith
of both the judges and the organizing committee. As viewers will note, our
judging panel expanded appreciably during the course of bringing this years
cycle to fruition.
Whilst the opening years ArtGemini Prize brought together a thrilling total
744 works from 33 countries across the world, this years tally is even more
impressive, with 956 entries from 34 countries countries. This aesthetically
enriching international response once again is a welcome validation of the
rationale for the continued development and growth of ArtGemini Prize.
Just as the inaugural 2013 cycle was a culmination of many months of
preparation, after the idea of the prize was born, this years diversification
in the media and disciples accepted by the judges is an indication the prize
grows from strength to strength. I feel honoured and privileged to be
hosting this vast array of artists for the 2015 series of events accompanying
the prize, the winners exhibition in London and further shows in Singapore
and possibly elsewhere. None of this could have been possible without
consistent support of a growing number of artists, our judges and their
colleagues and friends among art curators, our many partner organisations
and their networks, colleagues and friends.
My thanks also go to all those who have lent their generous support to the
prize, including the sponsors of Prize elements. I look forward to working
again with artists, art organisations and art sponsors for the next edition, the
ArtGemini Prize 2016.
