Disease name: Lobar pneumonia.

Type Inflammatory infectious


People at *with upper respiratory infection, older people and very
risk young babies with chronic illness, Lung disease, heart
disease, or swallowing problems.
*Drug users, diabetics, smoker, drinker, Leukemia and
Aids patients
Cause *Prim: bacteria "Pneumococcal, Streptococcus", virus,
chemical irritants or allergic substance.
Transmission *Breathing in small places.
*Coughing.
Incubation- Few hours.

Site *Entire area of lobes of the lung.
*Air sacs of the lung. "Alveoli"
Signs & 1st stage
symptoms *Rapid onset, cold, sharp pain in the chest, shaking
chill, headache & dry cough.
*Possible cyanosis followed by cough with discolored
or bloody sputum.
2nd stage
*Nausea, vomiting, convulsion "in children", narrow
breathing, high temperature"38-40.5", heart beating "
100-130"
* Jaundice; diarrhea.

Treatment & *Specific antibiotics "Penicillin, amoxicillin" analgesics
prognosis "clavulanic acid", over the counter medications.
Fever continuous for 4 days in 50% of patients. Patient
should re-examined.
Complication *Overwhelming sepsis, recurrence of fever with new
infiltrates.
*More serious for persons 2> years or > 75 years old.
*When the bacteria reach bloodstream, fluid
accumulation leads to pleurisy and lung abscess.
Prophylaxis *Vaccination "children older than 2 years", persons
older than 50 years who suffer from chronic heart, lung
disease and pregnant women.
*No smoking, washing the hands, good hygiene &
keeping immune system strong.
*For patients: stay away from the others, wears a face
mask and cough in tissues.
Important *50 causes
notes *Difficult to diagnose because of signs & symptoms
which are similar to other conditions: Swollen, red, hot
and painful of tissues.
