SOP for Class Representative Position, Section B 2015-17

Standing for the CR elections, I understand the magnitude of responsibilities entrusted upon
this role. Owing to the interactions with my fellow batch mates and seniors over the last two
weeks, I have gained a fair idea of the roles and responsibilities of a CR. If given the
opportunity to serve this role, I would be focussing on the following areas:
Firstly, I would ensure effective communication from both the ends i.e the faculty and the
students thereby facilitating as the channel for proper flow of information. Whether it is
scheduling of tutorials, extra sessions or in an event of clash of quizzes, I would ensure I
work in tandem with the Subject Representative to arrange everything efficiently. Also, if
theres a way, I would take feedbacks from my batch mates on their level of understanding of
a subject and communicate it to the faculty or the tutor and arrange for extra sessions if
required.
Taking into account the hectic schedule at IIMB, I am sure there would be ways to maintain
a proper work-life balance. This can be achieved by organizing various extra-curricular
activities from time to time. Section get-togethers such as birthday celebrations at L square,
outdoor events whenever section gets some free time and other fun activities would really
help my batch mates feel refreshed and rejuvenated.
I propose to build a common fund for these events, which would be maintained and properly
recorded by a treasurer. This would ensure smooth functioning and effective organization of
these events.
One of the most important trait of a section is the bonding between the students. In inter
section events such as War of Sections or in case of other events organized by different clubs,
I would encourage and assist my batch mates in whatever way possible, for ensuring
maximum participation and keeping up with the enthusiasm.
Having said that, the whole section has to work as a team in cheering up their fellow batch
mates and being there for support. The bonding between the batch mates is of utmost
importance in carrying out a healthy life within the hallowed walls of this reputed institute.
The get together events would help in strengthening this camaraderie.
During my undergrad college, I held the responsibility of Class Representative for 2 years
and I ensured in these two years that I never ignored my responsibilities towards my
classmates. In my previous organization too, I held few position of responsibilities which I
undertook sincerely.
I understand that the role of class representative demands lot of hard work and responsibilities.
Besides whatever I mentioned, a CR is supposed to do a lot of other things. Hence, I will keep
myself open to suggestions at all time and keep looking for opportunities that can benefit my
class and the entire IIM Bangalore family.
