LT. ALBERT K. DHAO has changed his address from Short H i l l s ^ p
Santa Maria, Cal. Thanks for your thanks, AX, and in these days oT
cracking radiators and bursting pipes we wish we could join the Army

CPL. FRED BRO'.TN'S snazzy l e t t e r from Panama City, Fla. has us l i c k -

words of praise in silence, w e ' l l hurriedly quote so you can see what

PVT. HUGE FITZSIll.'OUS changed h i s address to Camp l o r r y , 01-io, so

his January copy of our buglo just caught up with him. Eopo you find
some homo talent soon, but i n the ruoantimo, wo' 11 keep you posted.

PVT. ROBERT G-. THOMPSON, who seems to be zooming through the waters
around Ceiip Gordon, Ga, in an. outboard motor, was ma do a f u l l fledged
Engineer as a New Year's present. With lovo, but no k i s s e s , for h i s
Unclo Sambo, Bob says that not so long ago when lie was a taxpayer, he
wondered if TEE TATTLE was r e a l l y of i n t e r e s t to the men away from
home. "Your f i r s t copy has more than proven to ma i t s v a l u e . " The

One of the nicest and most i n t e r e s t i n g l e t t e r s (such big, els or,
purty p r i n t i n g , too) comes from TONY DI IOHNO. Tony, who i s a S 2/c
at the Naval Training School, Butler University in I n d i a n a p o l i s , says
his new ''ship" i s very pleasant ard n i c e . ''Life i s n ' t f u l l of campus

mentally, according t o Tony, who i s studying t o be a Signalman. ' Al-

CPL. FRANCIS F. WARD thinks the old homo s'tdto i s p r e t t y good, t o o ,

Millburn in particular* Frank ho s been going p l a c e s and having fun,
oven though h e ' s s t i l l a t F t . Konmouth, but t h o 45 miles might as well
bo a thousand as f a r as keeping t r a c k of the old gong, without THE
TATTLE, of course. He had d furlough back in November, and "got him-
self married" but won't t o l l , or forgets t o t o l l , h i s b r i d e ' s name.
Anyway, he and Mrs. 7ard spent a wook in Montroal and more people r e -
marked about his chevrons being upsido down; oven tho Canadian on-
l i stod men saluted him, which was fun but confusing.

ALFRED SCK7J3IZER S S/c proves he roods our breezy blurbs to the

b i t t e r end. Good old Al addresses us os lTHi > Toots 7 ', ovon though he
doesn't fool in hi$ heart t h a t i t ' s on appropriate beginning f o r a

and we're glad you decided to ,,bs " d i f f e r o n t " . Of course, some of t h e

U.S. NAVAL TRAINING SCHOOL in Chicago and i s an Aviation Machinist

warm, which sounds l i k e 2 nice balance, b e t t e r t h a n vice v e r s a , ^lso,
"Chicago i s a paradise for " s a i l o r s " . How about t r y i n g Millburn out
with that p r e t t y blue suit again soon, Seaman? (or should wo say,
••'Hate"?)
JOHN PICCUTTO burns us up by writing a line or tv;o fror.i tliana Boach.

A complicated service address always baffles our feeble un-milit'ary *'
minds, but "flight" is one word we d_o understand. Maybe tho r e s t of
i t a l l i s Jack's l i s t of favorite telephone numbers. ; 'Hello, t h e r e "
yourself, John and use some more of that green ink soon.

S. 2/c ROCCO CARSLLA has written a newsy l o t t o r t o Dr. G20RGS.

DREHER which he kindly passed on to us, after answering p e r s o n a l l y . At
the l a s t writing our old pal Rocco was cooling h i s hoels "somewhere in
Brooklyn" waiting t o go to sea. No private rooms, we take i t , because
one of the many Carrellas was perked i n an Armory equipped with t r i p l e
decked bunks and too many loud speakers, which kept humming a l l day
long. Crowded too, but he doesn't seoni tc mind. Gook luck on the sea
t r i p , Rocco, and we're glad your molars arc standing up undor the
s t r a i n of Army (or is it Navy)food.

Good old CPL. L'CKSEVERl "Jo know you a r e n ' t thinking of u s , Jack,
but BoyI does your l e t t e r make us happy! Stationed at Camp Gordon-'
how about looking up Bob Thompson? -Jock treks to town ( t h a t ' s Augusta)
to. see some of the so-called peaches. "There i s n ' t a g i r l there who
can compare with tho ones in l.Iillburn." './hen Cpl. McKoovor came homo
on Q recent furlough ho also said he could have kissed tho ground, as
i t was r e a l d i r t (pulloaso) instead of a lot of sand and crab g r a s s .
(Remind us to stay away from Gordon). And write again, Jack.

MIDSHIP!IAN PAUL TEURSTON will gat his long awaited commission on

March 5th after four month's training in Chicago, However, Paul takos
exception to our merry crack in l o s t month's b l a s t about "90 day won-
dors". According t o Paul, in th^ l a s t s t r e t c h i t ' s a 90 day wonder if
anyono can stay that long without flunking out. He also w r i t e s , " I t ' s
for people like you - and your work and s p i r i t , that we're working and
fighting for- so keep up the good job - and tho home f i r e s burning -
'and w e ' l l do our p a r t . "

JOHNNY BRAY has already l o f t Bninbridge, Bad. for Norfolk, Va. whore
ho i s of the armed guard with a Navy gun crew aboard o merchant marine
ship. S 2/c Bray i s already hoping and pitying any submarine which
pokes i t s nose :.. bovo tho water, because t h e r e ' s a crack crew aboard,
Happy f i r i n g , Johnny, and ben voyage.
Another S2/c (U.S.N.T.S.) who i s happy and contented with his new
life i s HENRY MONACO. Hank i s in Korchocd, Ky. studying to be an
Slectrician.*s Kate, hard work but fun on tho s i d o . The no sir by town
of Lexington is everything southern h o s p i t a l i t y should bo, good food,
entertainment, ©well people, end generally opon house to service man.
Glad you like tho TATTLE, and d e n ' t give thoso college g i r l s too much
of your time, Th_ homo t a l e n t is waiting for you to come back fancy-
free.
Although ROCCO GIANNATTASIO claims h o ' s s i t t i n g on h i s bunk while
writing his l e t t e r , ho needn't apologize for tho penmanship. Better
than we could do under perfect conditions, Rocco, Ho feels at home
even though in Portlnnt, Oregon, as there is plenty of snow and cold
weather, but maybe i t ' s memories of Llary which keep him warm? Rocco
had a furlough recently, but what c e r t a i n blonde kept him too busy and
attentive to ollow him time for v i s i t i n g such things as t h e A.7/.V.S.
headquarters. You are forgiven but stop in next time you blow in town.

PVT. ED* PRESSLER, who i s with the Army Air Corps at Jofferson
Barracks, Uo., picks valuable time out of the a i r to thank us for
both THE TATTLE and his present. Many thanks, p r e s s , old boy.

A nifty note from LT. ( j . g . ) E. M. F3NNER, who has one of those. ..

secret "south Pacific area" addresses. He's dovm in the wilds of some
place, and so far h a s n ' t mot any alumnus of H.E.S. Glad you enjoy
catching up on the gossip, Lt. Fennor (just what does the E» M. stand
for?) and we hope nothing prevents the future copies-from reaching .you.

Soooo, S l / c ANTHONY O'CONS was a touch seasick the f i r s t day he

went boat riding, eh? I t couldn't be a guilty conscience t h a t upset
you, could i t , Tony? None' of our business, but-a l i t t l e bird t e l l s us

PVT. NICHOLAS LIARCKSTTA, who is vacationing in Africa at present,

has big plans for the future of himself and irillburn. Nicky may be
back soon, (so he. says) but he's.had so much experience doing h i s own
washing, he's thinking of s t a r t i n g a laundry, come the paaco.

The CAIVANO brothers, SGT, JOSEPH and PVT. KENNEEH, arc playing

Rocco says, "One's own homo i s a c a s t l e . 7 '

Hammer Field, Gal., which sounds nico, t o o . Maybe tho SUT3RA boys

go off to the hospital. However, he's had an extended furlough in
order to recuperate? hope it made up for his illness, and that he had
a chance to see all his friends* ?
Another bit of tough luck came CORP. VINCENT KANE'S way; h© had to
spend three weeks in the hospital all during the Christmas -holidays -
but he's back on duty now at Camp G-ruber.
SG-T. SAM ALEXANDER was hospitalized for three -weeks at Camp Myles

SPORT HIGHLIGHTS...
(Dimmed out by your fumbling scribe)
As'Madam Abbott is busy on another literary confection for this
sheet, and as press-time is breathing down our neck«3.we will try
to emulate your former efficient sportscaster "Grantiand Lomax Irwin"
though we" can see from here that we are waging a dismal struggle* •••
Anyhow. • • .Millburn High's quintet pushed Westfield to the court wall
with a score of 41-36 ^ last week.., oh.owev.er, since then, we regret
to inform you that they subsequently lost to Madison (despite a great
last quarter rally) - final score 36-41...oand we further weep to'
relate that, this week, Summit came down to'tiie local court, and
returned triumphant by 9 points, i.e. 29-38,
On the Alleys, it looks as though Casa Columbo still holds the'
"A" League team standing, with individual high scores by Wade 345,
and Stieve 256.«,3oln the "C" League, L Tavern holds the team stand-
ing with individual high scores by Ciullo 244, and Jackson 277

The only other sports now going on, in this neck of Joisey are
spasmodic bouts against ole man winter with a snow shovel.„P„and,
incidentally, 'nowadays we walk,, from necessity, as well as for sport..»
and like it It osVsoo In closing, we can only pray that your former
commentator will point her toes north Tere the baseball season starts,
otherwise we guarantee our "Copy" will have you be wjJ.de red I
