HND Graphic Design

I enjoyed my time at Glasgow Met

and it opened a lot of doors for me
including the chance to work at one
of Scotland’s biggest advertising
agencies.
It was also the perfect stepping stone
to higher education, helping me land
a place on a Digital Art Degree at the
University of the West of Scotland in
Ayr after I graduated.
I owe a big part of my success to the
lecturers at the Met and I’d certainly
recommend the course to others.
In my final year I won a competition
to create an eye-catching advert
for Tunnock’s Caramel Wafers. The
prize was £250 and two weeks’
work experience at ad agency Levy
McCallum’s studio. My design which
featured the the slogan, ‘Almost
Actual Size!’ above two giant Caramel
Wafers was then displayed to
motorists and pedestrians on Crow
Road in Glasgow. My inspiration for
the ad came from the fact that the
biscuit has stayed the same size
for over 50 years while others have
shrunk.
It was an amazing feeling to win but
to have my work up for all to see was
overwhelming.
