years,however,andbegantoplayamajorroleinpoliticsinvariousregionsthroughoutthenation.

(C)TheThirteenthAmendment,adoptedonDecember6,1865,wasthefirstoftheReconstructionAmendments.Itofficially

andtheuseofthemilitary.WhenReconstructionended,thesecodescontinuedandgrewevenmoresevere.
