ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Senior Clerk/Secretaries perform some or all of the general functions as well as the functions specific to the area to which they
are assigned.
General: Answers department telephone and directs callers to appropriate department or staff; takes messages as necessary;
screens phone calls for staff; greets and directs visitors; types correspondence for staff including reports, letters, memos, etc.;
performs data entry, maintains department files; orders department office supplies.
Secretary to Director of Curriculum:
Performs general clerical duties including making photocopies, filing, faxing documents, mailing correspondence, etc.
Assists with maintaining the Directors calendar; receives and screens phone calls, correspondence and visitors and refers to appropriate
staff. Prepares and types Title I and II correspondence, reports, confidential information; researches information for use in responding to
inquiries; maintains department files and records. Updates and organizes professional development district website and calendar. Assists
in organizing and preparing for professional development events. Performs similar or related duties as assigned by Director.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience: High School education including or supplemented by courses in office procedures and secretarial skills;
two years of office and secretarial experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Bilingual English/Spanish
candidate desirable.
Knowledge, Ability, and Skill: Working knowledge of office practices and procedures; general knowledge of school and departmental
operations. Knowledge in Excel, data entry, email and website experience preferred but not required. Ability to keep accurate and
detailed records. Ability to work with public and school department employees at all levels with patience and tact; ability to operate
all office equipment. Good verbal and written communication skills; ability to meet deadlines under stress.
Physical Requirements: Minimal physical effort required in performing duties under typical office conditions. Duties may require
intermittent effort in carrying, lifting or moving light materials. Duties involve significant use of manual skills requiring finger
dexterity and motor coordination; examples include typing, operating computers, copiers and other office equipment, ability to
operate a keyboard and use telephone. Duties of job present little or no potential of injury.
