OPEN AND JUNIOR LIVESTOCK POULTRY RULES

1. See Junior Division General Livestock Rules.

2. Classes may be added, dropped or combined by the livestock committee with the poultry
superintendent. The superintendent will form breed classes if there are 3 entries in any breed. Other
breeds in each division will be judged in a class titled “Other Pure Breeds”.

3. All exhibitors must provide feed and water cans for their birds and wire them in place. The
exhibitors will be required to feed and water for the duration of the Expo.

4. No entries will be accepted that are not banded with a number or letters (no exceptions). All
Poultry must be pre-banded by the exhibitor.

5. All fowl must be owned and cared for by exhibitor 90 days for meat pen, 120 days for all other
poultry prior to the Expo check-in date.

6. All eggs become the property of the fair, and will be destroyed.

7. Classes will be listed the same for Open, 4-H/FFA entries, but will be judged on a separate basis.

8. All fowl shall be entered as one of the following:


Cock Hen Cockerel Pullet
Old Pair (over 1 year) – 1 cock & 1 hen
Young Pair (under 1 year) – 1 cockerel & 1 pullet
Old Trio (over 1 year) – 1 cock & 2 hens
Young Trio (under 1 year) – 1 cockerel & 2 pullets
Old (over 1 year) or Young Duck (under 1 year)
Old (over 1 year) or Young Drake (under 1 year)

***3 entries will be allowed per class. No duplicate entries will be allowed***

8. An exhibitor may not exhibit the same animal in both the open and junior show.

JUNIOR POULTRY MEAT PEN – LOT 43

1. See Junior Division General Livestock Rules.

2. Must comply with the United States Department of Agriculture Wholesome Meat Act and
Wholesome Assurance Statement.

3. All meat pens must be banded prior to check-in of the Expo.

4. When entering, use poultry form and write in Meat pen.

5. A meat pen consists of 3 birds. Each bird must weigh a minimum of 3 lbs. and a maximum of
5lbs. Total weight of pen must be 9 – 15 lbs.

6. A maximum of 5 pens per exhibitor is allowed.

7. Meat Pen entries will be weighed about 30 minutes after check-in closes. Exhibitor or
representative must be present for weigh in.
