Overview
Summary
GE Multilin releases the F650 Feeder Management Relay & Bay Controller Firmware version 5.68 and
software version 6.24.
Highlights of this release include:

DNP 3.0 Level 2 enhancement.

Wider setting range on voltage supervision on frequency function.

Strengthen internal CAN communication and IO boards initialization.

ICD files conversion tool implemented on the Enervista 650 setup.

Configuration and PLC project files classified as per model and version.

Non-ascii characters of HMI displays

Fault Report information on Chinese HMI displays

Note:

Firmware version 5.68 is compatible with Enervista 650 Setup Software version 6.24 and
F650 relays with hardware version 01 or higher and Bootware version 6.00.

Please refer to Chapter 8 of the Instruction manual for detailed directions on Bootcode and

F650 Relay Release Notes

The hardware version of the F650 relay can be verified from the device identification label.
Alternately, it is also available from the EnerVista 650 Setup software version 3.00 or higher
(while communicating with the relay).

Firmware Version 5.68

DNP 3.0 Level 2 enhancement.

Wider setting range on voltage supervision on frequency function

Minimum value for voltage supervision on frequency functions 81O and 81U changed from 20V (as
today) to 10V.

Strengthen internal CAN communication and IO boards initialization.

Enhanced the reception of the setpoint values by the I/O boards when the relay boots up.

Non-Ascii characters of HMI displays.

Enhanced the non-ascii characters of the Turkish, Spanish and French languages to avoid problems
when printing them on the different HMI displays.

Fault report information on Chinese HMI displays

Fault Report information for the three phases are now available on the Chinese language HMI.

IEC 103 Negative Values reading.

Improved the response on communication through DNP 3.0 serial, when relays are daisy chain
connected and a high traffic of messages is received.

When using IEC103, the relay now sends MW, Mvar, PF ... information, for both positive and negative
values.

Enervista Set up Software Version 6.24

ICD files conversion tool implemented on the Enervista 650 setup.

Implemented the tool to convert ICD files to different available version:

IEC 61850 Configurator menu-> Tools-> Convert IEC 61850 files

Configuration and PLC project files classified as per model and version.

The configuration files .650 and PLC projects have been classified, enabling an easier search.

Revised for application and use with firmware version 5.68 and Bootware version 6.00.

Upgrade paths
In order to take advantage of the enhancements and new features introduced in the latest F650 release, we
recommend that you upgrade to the new F650 Firmware version 5.68.

Firmware upgrades can be easily performed using 650 set up software. This upgrade can be done either via
EnerVista Launchpad or by direct download from the following site:

http://gemultilin.com/software/F650

If using EnerVista Launchpad, follow these steps:


1.

Open EnerVista Launchpad

2.

Click IED Setup

3.

Click Check Updates. Note: this will check for updates to all of the IED setup software shown.

4.

Select the F650 version 5.68 upgrade for download.

Upgrade path for Hardware version 01 and above


For F650 relays with Hardware version 01 and above, the 5.68 Firmware release can be uploaded to the F650
relay CPU via the Enervista 650 Setup software.
Hardware Upgrade package must be obtained from GE Multilin to upgrade the relays from Hardware 01 to
Hardware 04.

Upgrade path for Hardware Version 00


For F650 relays with Hardware 00, an upgrade package must be obtained from GE Multilin to upgrade the relays
CPU to hardware 01 to 04.
