Abstract
Gasliftisafeasibleoptionasanartificialliftsysteminadepletedfield.IntheBellotafieldthereisnosubstructuremeanstoinstallanytypeof
artificialliftsystem,thereforetheuseofnitrogenasagasliftsourceisnecessarytokeeptheBellotawellsproducing.Afterevaluating
differentoptionsweimplementedanitrogengeneratedinsituprojectusingthemembranetechnology.
Thispaperanalyzedthegasliftprocessdesignbyusingnodalanalysisandoptimumallocationofnitrogenineachwell.Specialemphasisand
considerationwasgiventothisprojectfromaneconomical,operational,technicalandenvironmentalpointsofview.Itisolsocomparesthis
optionwithdifferentsalternativesincludingthetraditionalgasliftmethodusingnaturalgasasasourceaswellastheuseofstorednitrogenfrom
storagetrucks(Tanks).Ourevaluationofresultsobtainedfromthedifferentoptionsinvestigatedinthisstudyclearlyindicatesthatthismethodis
agoodoptioninthisparticularsituation.
Nitrogeninjectiongeneratedinsituwithmembranetechnologycanbeafeasibleandprofitablealternatesourceofgasliftasshowninthisstudy.

BellotaChinchorroisoneofthesevenproducingareasintheSouthernRegionofMexico.Thecurrentproductionofthisfieldis105000
STB/Dofoiland150MMSCF/Dofgasproducedfromdolomiteformations,belongingtoJurassicandCretaceousage.

TheobjectiveofthisstudyarethewellsdrilledintheBellotafield.Initialproductionofthebellotafieldstartedin1982reachingapeakproduction
of44000STB/Din1995.Currentproductionisat20000STB/D,mainlyattributedtonaturaldepletion.Yeartodateproductionfromthisfield
isestimatedat140MMSTB,anditisexpectedtoproduceanother50MMSTBfromcalculatedtotalreserves.
Thisfieldisdividedintwodifferentsections.Thewellsthatwillbediscussedinthisgasliftapplicationbelongtothenorthsection.These
wellsarecurrentlydepletedbelowsaturationpressure.Itispresumedthatagascaphasbeenalreadyformedinthetopofthereservoir,since
GORhasbeendecreasinggradually.Inaddition,thereservoirpressurehasdeclinedrasticallymakingitnecessarytoprovidesomeformof
artificialliftassistancetokeepthewellsproducing.
