COURSEDESCRIPTION
Thecourseisdesignedfor3rdandfourthyearstudentswhohavealreadytakenabasiceconometricscourseandhasdoneatleast
onecourseinfinance.MBAstudentsarealsoallowedtotakethiscourse.Thecoursemostlyrevolvearoundthetechniqueswhich
arerequiredtomakeuseoffinancialdata.Themainfocusisontheempiricaltechniqueswhicharecommonlyusedintheanalysis
of financial markets and how they are applied to actual data. The course starts with the overview of the basic econometrics
techniquessuchasOLSestimationandtestingofhypothesis.InthesecondmodulewewilldiscussmodelssuchasARMAandARMA
whicharequitepopularfortimeseriesanalysisetc.Inthethirdmodulewewillfocusontechniquesrequiredtomakeprediction.In
thiscontextwewilllearnmodelsuchasARCHandGARCHmodelsetc.Inthefourthmodulewewillextendouranalysisformore
thanoneassetandestimatemodelssuchasVARandVEC.Inthefifthmodulewewilldiscussswitchingmodelstotakeintoaccount
theseasonalitiesinfinancialmarkets.
