Course / Class Policy


(1) Attendance
Students are to stick with the same tutorial class throughout the semester, as group/individual activities will be conducted
during each tutorial. Group marks will be given during tutorials.
Punctuality of students is of foremost importance. The attendance sheet will be collected 15 minutes after the lecture/
tutorials starting time. Students who arrive after 15 minutes will not have their attendance taken. No excuses will be accepted
as explanation for tardiness (Invalid excuses includes, but are not limited to:- previous lecture/tutorial ending late, unable to
find parking on campus, shuttle bus was not on time)
The student will be marked as Absent if the lecturer finds the errors such as, but not limited to these errors, in the
attendance list at his/ her name: Duplicate signatures (signing in BOTH attendance sheets, instead of only ONE sheet),
Signature in the wrong column,

Other signs of tampering of the attendance list that indicate attendance fraud was committed)
Absence from lectures, tutorials, and mid-term exam should be supported with Medical Certificates from Laurent Bleu
Clinic or government hospitals only, as well as valid excuses. Invalid excuses include, but are not limited to:
Going/gone back to hometown/unable to return from hometown in time for lecture/tutorial,
Unable to wake up in time for lecture/tutorial,
Unable to arrive in time for lecture/tutorial due to traffic jams or other transportation problems, and
Having a presentation, quiz or test for this or another subject on the same or following day(s).
Valid excuses include deaths and illness of close relatives (with a letter addressed to the lecturer and relevant documents),
and participation in activities organised by UCSI Universitys university departments.

(2) LMS
LMS: All announcements (notes, extra materials, exams, class cancellations, changes in venue, and etc.) will be posted on
LMS. Students are to make sure that they monitor the announcements posted on LMS very closely.
(3) Reading materials
Kindly prints out your lecture slides and bring them to the lecture. Note that the initial lecture slides uploaded are incomplete.
You are to fill in the incomplete lines as they are provided in the lectures.
However, the lecture slides should not be your sole reference to this subject. It is compulsory for all students to obtain an
original copy of the prescribed International Business text book. Bring the book to all tutorials and lectures as they will be
referred to frequently during the classes. The textbook will be your main reference for your exams and may help in your
assignment.
This is a university-level course. No lecture notes will be provided, like you had during your high school, and/or college days
(Ah, those good old days!). You should take notes during the lectures and tutorials.
(4) Barring List
You are a university student. Your priority, at this stage of your life, should be on your academic matters. Attending lectures,
and being present for tutorials, mid-term exam and assignment meetings/presentation should be at the top of your lifes
priorities.

The lecturers reserve the right to bar you from the final examination, should you not fulfil the 80% attendance requirement for
both tutorials and lectures.
It is the students responsibility to find out whether he or she is barred for the final exam. Any appeal against the barring
decision must be made to the lecturer before the unbar date. Appeals after the unbar date will not be entertained.
(5) Other matters
All electronic devices including mobile phones, PDAs, MP3 players, and notebooks must be switched off during lectures and
tutorials. The devices will be confiscated until the end of the lecture/tutorial if the lecturer/tutor deems that it is disrupting the
class.
Plagiarism is not allowed at all in this class. Any student found to have committed plagiarism will have their marks for the
affected assignment deducted accordingly.
Do not hesitate to contact your lecturer or tutor should you face difficulties in tutorials or regarding the assignments. Spot
your problems early do not wait till the last minute.
Finally, you must read through and understand this entire Teaching Plan, and the accompanying Course Outline and
Assessment documents, as they contain important information about your assignments and other coursework requirements. It
is your responsibility to know and remember the information included in these documents. You alone are responsible to know
the deadlines for your coursework, and the dates for your assignment submission, presentation, and midterm exam. Ignorance
of information provided here will not be accepted as an excuse for extensions and/or supplementary exams.
