TOPIC: E-EDUCATION IN
BIOLOGY

Introduction
Nowadays, it is commonly thought that new technologies can strongly help in education.
In young ages especially children can use the interactivity of new media, and develop their skills,
knowledge, presentation of the world under their parents monitoring of course. In no way
traditional education can be replaced but in this era of fast technological advancement and
minimization of distance through the use of internet everyone must be equipped with the basic
knowledge in technology as well as use it as a medium to reach a particular goal.
Today all scientific and technology based improved educational methods, programmes,
techniques, equipment etc are used so as to render classroom teaching more effective in the sense
that they achieve the objectives of teaching programmed learning since it supplements classroom
teaching, is considered the most innovative design of instructional technology. The implication
of E-education in teaching subjects particularly Biology is wide and effective in classroom
situation.

Uses of E-education
E-education give provisions for the development of all senses. The information contained
in the internet is unlimited and evolving up-to-date, inexpensive and searchable. It also reflects
the views of many authors and sources of information. The experiences obtained through Eeducation can be interact involve, a synchronous interaction and take place at any time and at
any place.

It is one of the fastest growing and most exciting areas in the field of information
technology. It helps students use various technologies effectively as tools in the planning
development or presentation of their projects.
Researches and subsequent practices show that complexities in a subject can be explained
effectively by exposing the students to a computer based multimedia presentation sessions on the
subjects containing textical, graphic, audio and virtual real life objects through 3-D animations
and simulations. Multimedia teaching facility teaching with animation graphics and simulation in
the complex and difficult subject particularly in science help teachers to take the students to
virtual reality of the working mechanism of the scientific phenomena.

Importance of E-education
E-education is a means of education that in-corporate self motivation, communication
efficiency and technology. E-education is not only computer aided instruction or computer based
training but also it encompasses the use of CD-ROM, mobile phones and personal digital
assistants.
Since, the internet is a huge store house of information and data on numerous topics, it is
of immense educational value. Internet can significantly contribute to the qualitative
improvement of education at all levels as it stores high quality teaching-learning programmes
and rich source of information.
Contents of traditional learning system are mostly based on text books. But as in the case
of E-learning content, audio or video materials may accompany texts, E-learning allows content
to be adjusted and supplied to the level or progress of the individual learner.

From the data it was found that E-education had a positive impact in teaching-learning
process of Biology. The teaching of subjects like Biology is also made easy and interesting to the
students through E-education. The multimedia labs with LCD projectors help viewing various
phenomena and processes in Biology which makes learning interactive. Pictures of sections and
internal organs in Biology can be viewed through laptops in the classroom. Internet facilities help
students access information in Biology.

Conclusion
The learning experiences obtained through E-education are mediated experiences. Each media
make certain type of learning task easier. It facilitate a teacher in transaction of learning
experiences. It is appropriately used to improve the quality and standard of education.
