Pre-

Target

Course Description:
This course provides an introduction to the field of human-computer
interaction (HCI), an interdisciplinary field that integrates cognitive
psychology, design, computer science and others. The graduate must
develop a mind-set that recognizes the importance of the users and
organizational contexts. They must employ user-centered methodologies in
the development, evaluation development of technical applications and
systems. This course will examine human performance, components of
technology, methods and techniques used in design and evaluation of the
system. This course will also introduce students to the contemporary
technologies used in empirical evaluation methods.
Course Objective:
Describe the relationship between the cognitive principles and their
application to interfaces and products.
Explain the conceptual terms for analyzing human interaction with
products such as affordance, conceptual model, and feedback.
Analyze different user populations with regard to their abilities and
characteristics for using both software and hardware products.
Explain the importance of the user abilities and characteristics in the
usability of products
