Cord Net Curtains Pattern #302

This free pattern originally published in: Spool Cotton #34, Crochet Designs For The Hostess

Materials: Clark's O.N.T. Knitting and Crochet Cotton or J. & P. Coats Crochet Cord, Ecru or Boilfast color. Milward's steel crochet
hook No. 5 or 6. These may also be made with Mercerized Crochet Size 20, or Pearl Cotton Size 5. The amount of material
depends upon the size of the curtain. Buy a quantity at one time.

To begin, make ch as many inches long as finished width of curtain is to be. Then ch 3 more to turn.
LOWER BORDER. 1st row: D c in 7th st from hook, * ch 2, skip 2 sts, d c in next, and repeat from * across. 2nd row: Ch 5, turn, d
c in d c, * ch 2, d c in next d c, and repeat from * to end, making last d c in 3rd st of turning ch. Make 9 rows of d c meshes,
following instructions for 2nd row. 10th row: Ch 5, turn, d c in next d c, ch 2, d c in d c, ch 2, d c in d c, ch 2, d c in d c (4 sps).
Then make d c in every st to end of row. 11th row: Ch 10 (to count as tr tr and ch-2), turn, ch 2, tr tr (thread over 4 times) in next d
c, * ch 2, tr tr in next d c. Repeat from * until there is a group of 3-dc left before the 5 sps. Note that from here on the cord net body
of the curtain is made. The front border edge is made later, and whipped in place. 12th row: Ch 10, turn, tr tr in next tr tr, * ch 2, tr
tr in next, and repeat from * to end of row. Repeat 12th row until curtain is as long as required.
FRONT BORDER. 11th row: Attach thread to the d c next to the last tr tr in the 11th row. Ch 3, d c in next d c, d c in next d c, ch 2,
d c in next d c, ch 2, and continue till there are 4 sps over the 4 sps of the 10th row. 12th row: Ch, 5, turn, d c in next d c, continue
for 4 sps. Then d c in each of next 2 d c. 13th row: Ch 3, turn, d c in each of next 2 d c, ch 2, d c in next d c, and complete 4 sps.
Repeat 12th and 13th rows of front border until its finished length is the same as the body of the curtain. Then from the wrong side
whip this border to the body of the curtain, making sure that the curtain and border lie smooth and flat. When the curtains are
completed, stretch out on a flat board or on the floor and pin carefully in place. Place a damp cloth over them and press.
TIE BACK:An attractive tie back for this simple net curtain may be made by taking twenty strands of thread more than twice the
desired finished length and twisting them tightly. Then double these twisted strands, and give them a second twist in the opposite
direction. Fasten the ends together. If preferred, finish with a tassel.
